Playstation 3 - 40GB —

Sony once again impressed with the introduction of the Playstation 3. I currently have a 40 GB system with nothing really bad to say about it except the obvious. No backwards compatibility with PS2 games is disappointing. Beyond that PS3's are an incredible experience with incredible graphics, the new Playstation Network, access to movies, music, and pictures, then fully customizeable options.

Starting with the Playstation Network. This new service from Sony lets users create their own online personality and profile to use when online with the PS3's. Avatars can be added to your account. Up to 100 friends gives a very large opening to meet players online and befriend them very simply. This name also is used throughout all PS3 titles, making it simple to join up with friends in online gameplay.

The graphics for this system are simply amazing. Playstation 3 supports up to 1080p full HD graphics and sound. This gives an amazing feel to many games, movies, and other details throughout the whole Playstation experience.

The new built in Hard Drives let you store and access music, video, and picture files easily. This console not only plays games but allows DVD, Blu-Ray, and stored content to be played through the system. Network Sharing also extends that experience, being able to add a computer on your network to the fun and streaming the same aspects into the PS3 from another source.

The only drawback is with certain consoles backwards compatibility with Playstation 2 games isn't present. That is to say with the 40 GB system you can't play Playstation 2 games on the system. While that's not such a horrible thing, it's much more convienient to have just the Playstation 3 hooked up to your TV rather than having to drag out that old Playstation 2 just for PS2 games.

No matter how it's looked at the Playstation 3 delivers a great experience and something for everybody, ranging from playing Playstation 3 game titles to the built in Blu-Ray player. These consoles are a work of art if I've ever seen one.
