I got God of War when it went to the Playstation Greatest Hits Collection for a bargain price of around 20 dollars. That was probably the best 20 dollars I ended up spending on my PS2 video games. God of War has it all. I heard a lot of hype about it when it came out and when it was in development but when I played it for the first time I really understood what all the talk was about. The game is epic in its treatment of both story, character development and level layout. I am a huge fan of mythology in general and this game's unique and creative treatment to the subject matter of old mythology...

I do not know how to put into words how amazing this game is. Recently, my husband and I have purchased a playstation 2 (since the price was so reasonable and we are financially a little challenged in this economy). My friends had all told me about the God of War game, and the wonderful story and graphics that come along with this.
As a lover of greek mythology, we just had to purchase this game. And let me tell you, were were NOT DISAPPOINTED! This game and story line is pretty true and accurate to the ancient greek stories and the graphics are just unbelievable!

If you ever played video game while being a kid you will be surprided of how advanced games have become. I had not played in a while but i could not put this down once i got it.
If you like mythology this will also please your taste as it's a main part of he game.
Just get the game and play it and trust me you'll be getting part 2 right away also.
This is one of the greatest games I have played in a very long time. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is epic. God of War 2 makes other games seem boring and trite. The story lines make the game exceptional.
There is no game like God of War until they made God of War 2. I recommend everyone plays this game at least once.
Fighting is a bit of a button mashing endeavor and it is definitely a mature game. Even still the fighting can be a great way to pass the time.
It's mostly a keeper if you like awesome action adventure games. I'm not sure it has a lot of reason to replay it personally.
What can I say about this game. It is true to greek mythology, and the graphics and story line are just amazing. This was the first game that I purchased for my ps2 and not one game can even compare to this. I would higly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys greeek mythology and or gaming!
God of War is a great game to play over the weekend surrounded by bloodthirsty friends. Killer moves finish off a host of monsters lined up for slaughter, and the first boss battle with a Hydra is one to be remembered for ages.
