Buzz! Hollywood Quiz is the second Buzz quiz I have had the change to try out. Mega Quiz turned out to be more difficult than I thought because of the variety of subjects, so Hollywood Quiz ended up being a lot more accessible to me.
If you're not familiar with the Buzz franchise, these games are presented as a TV game show, and definitely oriented to be party games. Buzz is your host, and somehow his personality seems a lot more aggressive here than in Mega Quiz. There were a few moments where I actually laughed over his comments, particularly when you skip the "how to" tutorials and he literally yells at his assistant Rose to shut up. He also has some strange mood swings throughout the games, which is pretty funny at times, but also somewhat annoying on occasion.
The game modes in Hollywood are the same as those in Mega Quiz : Multiplayer, Single, Team, Quickfire and Quiz Master, with difficulty level settings, and of course, the option to fully customize your own game and the rounds that you want in it. For the most part, it is the same as Mega Quiz, but there are a few new rounds and some new features.
First, the set is different, reminiscent of a red carpet/awards ceremony and Buzz sports a new outfit. Then, there is a handful of new characters to select: the creature from the Black Lagoon, a cute brunette girl, a vampiress, a muscular guy much like Rambo.
The new rounds include Fact or Fiction (guess if a certain piece of gossip is true or not), Fastest Finger (photo-based questions that require you to answer as quickly as possible) and Rollover (pick your category, the one with less points picks first; if you answer your category wrong, the next person will get your points if they get theirs right). Pie Fight, Point Stealer and Final Countdown from Mega Quiz are still there.
The questions revolve around movies, actors, directors and celebrity lifestyle. They can be anything from celebrity gossip to quotes, movie clips or still images, and they are fairly varied. Some of them are actually pretty challenging.
Ultimately, I'd recommend Buzz! Hollywood Quiz over Mega Quiz, since movies are something that pretty much everyone knows at least a little bit about, which makes it a lot more fun to play. Granted, it's not Scene It, but if you don't own an Xbox 360 and are a movie buff with aspirations to show off your knowledge to your friends, Buzz! Hollywood Quiz is the game for you.
