Playskool Crew Dusty The Talking Vacuum Review Summary

The Playschool Crew Dusty the Talking Vacuum has mixed reviews from our parent reviewers. Some families love this pretend vacuum as it, “makes her feel grown up and helpful; it actually improves self esteem when a child feels like they are helping.” Another parent is thrilled that the Talking Vacuum “has helped me to teach him (her son) good developmental and social skills because he just loves playing with it!” Other families on the other hand “ just don't get what all of the hype was about,” as this Playschool toy sat in closets or corners of rooms unused. All agree that it is colorful and cute, and made by the a company that has a wonderful reputation for creating toys. The toy is inexpensive, durable, and helpful in teaching life skills. If you have a little helper in your household, they may enjoy pretending to clean just like mom or dad. Read more Pretend Play reviews to encourage your young ones imagination.

My mother bought this "must have" toy for my daughter for Christmas in 2006.  After perusing parenting magazines and doing online research, this seemed like one of those toys that every child was destined to love.

Well it's 2008 and I'm still waiting for my daughter (or even my son) to love Dusty...

I bought this toy vacuum at a garage sale for a dollar! My 2 year old loves it (and his 5 year old sister has been known to use it as well, though she is too tall to use it without stooping down).
The vacuum says cute little phrases, which my son loves to repeat. Things like, "who made the mess!" and "we must clean up the dust!". The vacuum talks in a silly voice, but still easy for kids to understand. The vacuum makes a real sucking-up-dirt noise. It is not too loud at all, and has an on/off button (which is also easy for little hands to use). Great toy!

I purchased this item for my daughter for Christams this past year. She was so surprised when she opened the box! The item is colorful which catches the eyes of a child. We were so happy with it! Of course since she is a four year old she is sometimes hard on her toys but so far it has held up to our expectations! She loves to help Mommy clean around the house. It makes her feel grown up and helpful; it actually improves self esteem when a child feels like they are helping.

My three-year-old son when visiting his friend always went for this toy first. When we would leave he would try to take it home. So I finally bought this for him and he has not put it down except for when his one-year-old sister picks it up. It is light enough for my one-year-old to push around and is durable enough for my three-year old son to play with. As far as I am concerned I have already got my moneys worth! Hopefully this will be a toy that they will play with for a few years. My son asks for me to get "mommy's" vacuum out and vacuum the floor with him. It's great that he gets to feel involved... review »

The Playskool "Dusty" the vacuum is an excellent toy for a toddler that loves to push things around.  My son will grab this and push it around and around the room for close to half an hour at a time.  The silly sayings and vacuum sounds are perfect for keeping a toddler's attention.  I only wish the vacuum actually picked up dust, I'd never have to do any vacuuming myself again!

We purchase it for my 2 year old daughter who loves to clean.  She uses the toy hoover windtunnel at her grandparents all the time, we thought this was perfect.  She only used a handful of times and then was bored with it.  My daughter likes toys that make noise and are more realistic like Mommy's or Daddy's.  This toy was very durable and the right price but did not get used.

I bought this for my daughter's 1st birthday since she was always fascinated with my vacuum. The only problem is it doesn't stand on it's own very well so she'd get frustrated when it kept falling over if she let go. The voice scared her too. She's 3 now and just started to play with it, but not for a long period of time.

Most Playschool toys are well know for their long lasting durability.  This vacuum is no exception. My son follows me around the house while I do the cleaning and he vacuums right beside me!  It has helped me to tech him good developmental and social skills because he just loves playing with it!

These toys have a great reputation. Playskhool has been around forever. They are very durable and seem to last forever. Still have some old toys in the attic that belonged to my son and daughter and with a good washing, they're still useable to this day!

My 5 year old granddaughter just loves to help her Mama.  She follows her around each day when my daugter cleans. Chloe has Down Syndrome and this little Vac has given her the chance to really feel important, like she is really helping.

My daughter absolutely loves this. She wanders around the house "vacuuming" all the time. When I use the real vacuum, she follows me around, pretending that I missed some spots. Very cute.
