This is my third bluetooth ear-bud since I started using cell phones. My first was a motorola and it irritated my ear bad, the ear piece was always digging into my ear or flopping off when I tilted my head a little ways. My first Plantronics was the 220 and it lasted only a year before it went bad. I liked the performance of the Plantronics so when my 220 went bad I got this one. The Plantronics has a stiffer ear piece and doesn't flop like the motorola did.

Using the Plantronics 330

The Plantronics connects very easy to your cell phone and only requires inputting the password into your phone. It is very light and I hardly feel it on my ear when I am using it. I will be walking through a store while talking on my cell with it on and people think your talking to them. I was talking to my wife one day and asked her "How is my sexy cab driver doing today?" and this lady gave me the weirdest look....lol she thought I was talking to her. Boy did she turn red when I pulled my cell out of my pocket and then pointed to my bluetooth.

The single button on the ear-bud controls starting and ending a call, volume and turning the unit on and off. It also is used to initially set it up to connect to your cell phone. You know it is on when the blue and red light flash, which means it is ready to connect to your phone.

It works quite well until the battery starts getting low then it has the tendency to cut words out on both ends of the conversation. Good thing I have a power inverter in my truck as I have the charger from my 220 and it fits the 330. So I can charge it in my truck and didn't have to buy a car charger for it. It seems to have less battery life than my 220 had but I do use it a lot, especially when driving.

I like the fact it also rings in the ear-bud when a call comes in as sometimes my cell phone will be in a coat pocket and I don't hear it. Also with one push of the button on the ear bud I can activate my voice dial and that makes this ear-bud completely hands free for dialing. The only annoying thing about it is when it is on the light on the ear-bud blinks every so often and the blue light can be annoying at night. Sometimes it will cause you to turn your head because it is so bright you think something is coming at you from the side.

My wife also has the 330 and she loves it as well, hers came on a special deal and she got the home charger as well as a car charger with hers. I got mine free after raising cane to Verizon when mine went bad so quickly. Even so it would be worth the price as long as this one lasts longer than the other one.

The sound quality is very clear and background noise is not too bad through it. What I mean is background noise doesn't affect using my voice dialing as much as my old motorola ear-bud. With the motorola it seemed the slightest noise would cause the phone not to work with voice dialing, the Plantronics must have a better filter.

Bottom Line

Plantronics works good for the price you pay and gives you clear reception as well. It is light on the ear and can be worn on either ear by simply flipping the ear piece the other way. As it only barely protrudes into the ear it dosen't affect hearing at all and doesn't cause the irritation that some models do. I gave this a three because of the 220 I had that didn't last long at all and this is the replacement for the 220 according to what Verizon told me. The only difference being the 220 only had a blue light and this one has a red light as well as a blue light.

I read in a geek blog that when you see someone they are not a cyborg, just talking on the phone. :)
