I watched Planet Earth back when it first aired on Discovery Channel a couple years ago and I am still watching reruns whenever it comes back on Animal Planet. This is one of the great endeavours of nature filmmaking that will be a touchstone for things to come in the future. The footage is top notch and if you are lucky enough to view this masterpiece on a high definition television then you are in for a huge treat.

Not only is this series awe inspiring but it is thought inspiring. It makes you stop and realize how vast our natural world is from the great whales to the smallest and heartiest organisms that live near the deep sea vents. What I enjoyed about the series was that after showing us all the great footage of nature the closing episode spoke of conservation and how important it is for humans to realize we are a part of nature no matter how advanced our civilizations may become. We are still inhabitants of this earth along with the millions of other species. If you can, pick this...

Planet Earth is one of the most visually appealing series i have ever seen. The filming is very well done and provides and interesting look into the real "Planet Earth". The series shows wildlife from all around the world ranging from deserts to forests and glaciers. One of the most impresive scenes includes a great white shark leaping from the water in which the camera gets a slow motion shot. Overall the most entertaining yet still educational series i have ever seen

I watched this series when it aired on TV, and couldn't wait for the next episode. The Planet Earth series showed our homeworld in all it beauty, diversity, grandure, and sometimes even in its ferocity. I'm usually very picky about how I spend my time in the evenings after work. Frequently, I don't even turn the TV on if the shows don't seem to offer anything worthwhile. This series, though, is definintely worthwhile.

The thing I remember most about it now was the incredible photography. Shooting the HD digital "video" using new techniques that had not successfully been tried before, the photographers were able to capture stunning views of geography, amazing wildlife shots, and high-quality slow motion action sequences.

Whether you love the mountains or the oceans, the plants or the animals, there is something interesting for everyone in this series. I believe the educational value of each episode would merit its being shown in schools. But it's a far cry from the dry,...

I absolutely loved this series and can't wait to see the movie they are making with it. I thought the scenes were amazing and the quality was very good. I can't believe it took them 5 years to make it. It was so worth it. I enjoyed the water episodes more than any of them. I am fascinated by those fish that live so far beneath the ocean. The best scene by far in the entire series was the shark eating the seal. When the shark jumps out of the water...WOW! That was awesome. Plent Earth was also very educational as well. Very well done.

Plant Earth was a visualmasterpiece of the world in which we live. I was glued to my seat watching this beautiful event. It affirmed for me the power higher power that created this wonderful planet. Each episode was just as wonderful as the previous. The episodes had just the right balance of nature and landscape. Our whole family watched it the first time and I watched it a second time. Very well worth it!

I could not believe my eyes when i first saw this show. It was so interesting and i thought it was going to be another boring earth show about saving out plaanet and boring stuff like that but it was so cool! There was animals on PLanet Earth that i had never seen before and it was amazing to know that there are so many things i dont know about. I watched it with my sister and she was even like " wow, thats so cool" and she was the one making fun of me in the first place when i went to go buy the dvds. It was so worth the money and for those who havent seen it, go watch it now! but after a while, the narrator's voice gets a little annoying but its still cool. Even kids like it but it does show kinda gruesome stuff but not much. Oh, and the tree part is boring but its only like a couple minutes. Wow these reviews are long and im sick of writing them. HMMM.....but oh and the HD IS AMAZINGGGG!

When I first got my BlueRay player, the guy at Best Buy recommended this DVD. It is like you are there! It is fantastic. You learn and are in a whole new land!

I bought this on BluRay and it took my breath away. Its interesting and I was able to see things and places that I would ordinarily never be ableto see. I was astounded by the pictur equaity on the BluRay DVD and i think that anything less than the BluRay version is a tease. Not much else can be said. Its amazing!...

Planet Earth is simply the best nature program I have ever seen. The visuals are stunning (must be seen in HD to be truly appreciated) and the program itself is very interesting with lots of fascinating facts. Full of indelible images (I can still picture the terrible majesty of the great white attacking a seal) this is a must see....

I only started watching planet earth with my fiance about a four months ago. The first episode we saw we were completely intrigued. We couldn't wait until the next day to see another episode. With each episode that we saw we just wanted to see more and more. It was so good that I decided to give him the show on DVD for our anniversary. He was very pleased and we have been able to watch the same shows over and over. It is nice because the second time through you notice information you missed. Overall it is a wonderful addition to our DVD collection....

I have watched much of this series and enjoyed it very much! The images and information is incredible! It is really neat to see what happens in parts of this planet that I will most likely never see or otherwise have known about and now have an appreciation for. I really feel like I learned something from this program and better understand how something on the other side of the planet effects my daily life. It is great for all ages. I really like this program!...

Planet Earth.....Finally something to get away from the special effects and bad acting that Hollywood usually puts out. This takes you back to nature and makes you appreciate the world around you. And how small we are in it. Its long but if you love the earth it is all fascinating....

My kids and I have been watching "Planet Earth" together lately and to see the looks in their eyes as they watch it is just wonderful. They are young children but will just sit and watch for hours. They seem to just get lost in the shows. The most amazing thing is when they talk about it for days afterwards. They have learned so much from it. They will go to school and playgroups and tell their friends about what they have seen. I'm so glad to have found a series of shows that i can feel good about watching with my children. To know they will learn something important from it is wonderful. I would recommend these shows to everyone I know. They are wonderful and captivating. I will cherish them forever.

don't get me wrong planet earth is a very interesting series, with a lot of cool information and tons of images never before filmed. but if you are having trouble getting to sleep and are thinking about popping some sleeping pills i have two words for you, planet earth. this series puts me to sleep link nobodys business. i don't know why i get so tired when watching the beautiful scenes and listening to the beautiful music. but if you interested in nature this series is absolutely wonderful and its worth every cent....
