Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Balls —

We got our dog at a shelter when he was just a puppy. The shelter told us that he wouldn't grow to be more than around forty pounds. That sounded perfect to us so we adopted this white wrinkly pup and made him a part of our family. Within about six months, I'm pretty sure he reached his forty-pound mark ... needless to say, the shelter was way off. Three years later our "puppy", Rebel weighs in at around eighty pounds. Squeak toys for this big guy? I think not. Rope toys? Destroyed in about five minutes. Tennis balls, forget about it. Stuffed animal? Laughable. The only one toy that we finally found that he couldn't rip through was the Kong Dog Toy but after awhile, he got somewhat bored with it. I did some research and I found Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Balls at planetdog.com. Another awesome indestructible dog toy and now a very happy dog!

Orbee-Tuff Balls

The site has so much to choose from and what's cool is that before you choose an item, you can narrow your choices down based on the age of the dog and the "chew-o-meter". The site states "The key to buying the most durable Orbee-Tuff toys for your dog is understanding three things. The mechanics of a dog's jaw, the physics of size and shape and your dog's chewing habits." The site explains it further so that the best fit can be made before purchasing. Planet Dog products are available at other online stores but I'm honestly not sure if they are sold in pet shops.

My Experience

Our particular dog fell into the perfectly round ball category so we purchased the Orbee-Tuff Woof & Fetch Ball. This ball is awesome. It's durable, bouncy, and is even mint-scented. It cost $11.95 and like all the other products, it's 100 percent guaranteed. I normally wouldn't pay that much for a dog toy but I know from experience that it is very hard to find a dog toy that is durable enough to stand up to my dogs chompers. I've wasted a ton more than $11.95 on all the cheaper toys that I bought that Rebel destroyed within minutes. This ball was guaranteed so I had nothing to lose either. These balls are 3 and a quarter inch in diameter, are available in both pink and green and with sayings of "woof" or "fetch". Each one is non-toxic, recyclable and rinses clean easily. As a bonus, they are also made in the good old U.S.A.

My dog has a riot with this ball whether he is chasing after it or just simply sitting and gnawing on it. Like the site says, since he can't get it to the back of his jaw where the hard-core chewing takes place, the toy lasts and lasts.

My Final Viewpoint

Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Balls are very durable and my dog can finally have some real fun rather than only three or four minutes of it. I definitely recommend this product and I have to give it a well-deserved 5 star rating.

Funny how the pound, ahem, underestimates dog weights. Our almost 11 dog seems only to like soft toys. She goes att'em and I sew them back together (if you can believe that!). Wish I could persuade her that a harder Orbee would be worth the effort. Enjoyed your review, Laurie!

Now, if I only had a dog instead of this stinkin' cat! Great job!

This is important for all of us who occasionally buy presents for big tough guy dogs. I bet "Rebel" is so cute!

I'm telling my mom about these. She has three yorkies, and one of them is hell on dog toys & balls.

Aww, I'm sorry for your loss. I understand keeping her ball. I would have done the same thing.

My dog would have loved that. She had a Forever Ball that was made for Lions and Tigers in zoos, but we thought it was lost one time and could not find another one anywhere, she was so sad as she played with it for hours everyday. Finally we found it, it had gotten in the shed somehow. She is gone now, but we will never get rid of her ball, it was such a big part of her life.

My best friend has two labs that chew through EVERY single toy she has bought them. Even the "indestructable" toys. I will have to tell her about these.

Awesome product & review. We play lacrosse so throw the balls to our dogs with the lacrosse sticks and then scoop it up when they bring it back. Happy Spring Laurie!

Mickey could probably chew through more than Rebel. He destroys everything. 15 pound maniac, he is. Good review.
