Plain Perfect is a novel written by someone that I've known for several years.  Beth Wiseman is the best friend of a very dear friend of mine.  I still have Beth's first, self-published book but she's really outdone herself with her newest novel, published by Thomas Nelson.  Plain Perfect is the first of a series.  I purchased a few for my family and had the pleasure of getting them autographed by Beth.  We've all read the book (as we did her first, self-published book) and we all agree --- we want more!!!

About the story (you don't have to be Amish to love this book):

Lillian Miller has had a tough life. She discards the distractions of her former life and while visiting her grandparents home in Lancaster County that she realizes this may be the place she finds peace. Lillian befriends a young boy (11-year old David) who works on her family's farm and his attractive widowed father, Samuel Stoltzfus.  Time goes by and Lillian joins the Amish order and adopts their lifestyle as her feelings deepen for Samuel. But what happens when problems arise here, in the perfect place?  Will Lillian find her faith in plain living, or will she be forced to return to her former life?

A book that is hard to put down, Plain Perfect, the first in the Daughters of Promise series, is a great story by a great author.   Each Daughters of the Promise novel focuses on one woman's journey into an Amish Community where she discovers new meaning to the words faith, hope and love.

I really enjoyed the reading guide and authentic old order Amish recipes that are included in this book.

Plain Perfect is in book stores now.  You won't regret picking one (or more) up today!

Book #2 in this series:  Plain Pursuit (to be released in April 2009)

Pssst: Beth is currently in the middle of writing the 3rd book in this series!!!

That good new. To hear she has another book coming out. The library only have the two, Plain Perfect, and Plain Promise. What's the third please?

You are lucky to Beth Wiseman. I can already tell I going to love Plain Perfect. I read christan fiction all the time. I enjoy the Amish books also.
Great review.

I read The Shunning by Beverly Lewis. She writes a lot on the Amish. In fact The Shunning is is book 1 in the series, The Heritage of Lancaster County. These are some really good books too!

I just spoke to my dear friend today, who help edit this book, and I'm told that the 2nd book is even better. I can't wait for April 2009!!!

This type of reading (Amish) is new to me but it's really for everyone. It was so neat to learn some of the language. I can't rave enough about this book. I actually got to read some of the chapters while they were being edited and it was a special treat!

I've read the Beverly Lewis novels by Beverly Lewis and love them. This sounds good.
