Pioneer - DV410V It's good but not great
I received the Pioneer - DV410V DVD player as a gift and after using it for three months feel like I have a good opinion on it. First off I own a lot of different region dvds and most American DVD players are region locked so I can't play my foreign film collection. The nice thing about this dvd player is that since it is region free it plays anything I throw at it. Well mostly, for some reason it won't play any copy of "300" without skipping. It also sometimes struggles with some DVD-Rs while some of my other players have no troubles. The picture quality is excellent and with an hdmi cable you can even upscale to your HDTV. There are a lot of options to fine tune and tweak the picture as well. You can also turn off the player with a dvd in it and come back to it and resume right from where you left off. This DVD player does have some issues though. As stated "300" and some DVD-Rs don't work. These are the only ones I've had trouble with out of playing many different dvds though. The controller is nicely set up, but the fast forward and rewind don't really have an option to go that fast, so I'll find myself impatiently cycling through previews like the old days of VHS. Finally my biggest annoyance is the noise this player causes while spinning a disc. It can be very loud and a couple of times I've removed the disc to check if it was scratching. I think it's just a loud reader so turn the volume of your tv up. Overall I would recommend this if you have a lot of region free dvds and care about picture quality.
