I was first introduced to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon on compact disc, being a music listener that came along near the end of the generation that really enjoyed records.  My Dad had purchased in CD form rather than on tape, because he felt it helped the music with its presentation.  Well after...

I've been relatively conservative since starting here at Viewpoints.  I've sort of tried not to step on many toes.  In other words, I've been the exact opposite of what made me so popular on another certain review site.  Well, with this review, that's gonna change.  I'm planning on receiving plenty...

Let's face it....I was never a fan of rock. I had always come from an r&b background. I met a fellow music lover who was getting into new styles of music and took some of the many suggestions I made. He, in return, did the same and suggested DSOTM by Pink Floyd. At first I thought"WWWWWHAT"? This is until I gave it a listen and I must say that it is the CLASSIC that everyone has called it. From open to close it gives the goods!

Dark Side of the Moon came out in 1973 and has been on the rock charts most of the time since.  It is Pink Floyd at their best.  No other band has ever matched the audio imagery that this album produced.  The heartbeat at the beginning is a perfect loop through of the heartbeat at the end and the music in between holds you thoughout.  I bought this album when it came out (i was 8) and have a copy of it ever since, from vinyl to CD.  I would gladly recommend this to anyone that likes the classic rock style.

Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon
each song runs into each-other, and its a great feel.
Im only 23, but i have listened to pink floyd since i was pretty young. I have never got tired of any of their cd's especially this one. Its great from start to finish.
I enjoy their use of many instruments. The guitar and bass guitars are amazing, implementing many different types of sounds. Making something very fun of the cd, but at the same-time if you like something dark and relaxing its what you want to listen to. Also, if your just starting out listening to Pink Floyd, i believe this is a great place to...

Where do I begin... First of all Pink floyd is legendary in themselves... Dark Side is one of the GREATEST Floyd album of they're career. I don't know of any other bands that can put on The Wizard of Oz and sit back and play they're album and have it go along with the movie...Simply amazing! Second Pink Floyd is one of the original bands that birthed metal and rock for the sake of argument... They are by far one of the greatest rock/ classic rock bands of ALL time! Anyone that disagrees has no taste in music at all.

dark side of the moon is a must have for any collection--great guitar work, magical synthesizer moods and some totally sexy sax riffs--add to that some fabulous lyrics and almost operatic back-up vocals and you have this seminal rock icon!! this an album that listens well from start to finish and, even if you had the vinyl as a youngster, with sound quality as advanced as it's become, it deserves to be heard again.

Easily one of the greatest recordings of all time.

A must have for all music lovers.

Original lineup minus Syd Barret. Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason.

Timeless classics like, "Time","Us and Them" "Money".

It's music that will never go away.

Spellbinding keyboards, crushing guitars, and Thundering drums accompany haunting vocals.

Pink Floyd's "The Dark side of the Moon" album is down like syndrome.  Once a classic, always a classic and sets one of the bars for musicians today, that personally, I think, are failing miserably (with few exceptions).  Original sound, great in its own day and age, though nowadays it might be a bit out-played and only really hits a spot with classic rock fans.  Overall, an amazing album.

The Dark Side of the Moon is Pink Floyd's ninth album and is a single extended piece rather than a collection of songs. It seems to deal primarily with the fleetingness and depravity of human life, hardly the commonplace subject matter of rock. "Time" ("The time is gone the song is over"), "Money" ("Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie"), and "Us And Them" ("Forward he cried from the rear") might be viewed as keys to understanding the meaning (if indeed there is any definite meaning) of The Dark Side of the Moon.

Even though this is a concept album, a number of the cuts can stand on...

As I prepared to get out of a rusty light blue VW Bug, after a particularly boring first and last date, I could feel the rush of joy that I was home and able to get back to the book I should have stayed home reading. When my hand found the door handle the almost former date asked me to wait and listen to a tape he just received from a buddy of his. Flustered and wanting out of this date but not wanting to hurt the guy's feelings too badly, we went to the same art school after all and there is the artistic angst factor to consider...I agreed to listen. I was transfixed by the opening of "Breathe"...

Maybe it's a bit silly calling this one of the greatest albums of all time, here in 2009. As if this weren't already a scientifically-proven fact. After all, how many records has it broken/held? How many widely-viewed best-of-all-time lists has this album made?

Pink Floyd perfected the art of the concept album, and Dark Side is definitely the masterpiece. Other strong cuts include Wish You Were Here, the very underrated Animals, and of course, The Wall.

Roger Waters, the group's eventual driving creative force and frontman (until he left the band), was just then coming into his own during the making...

It's so good. seriously, if you like rock, especially good rock, then this is for you. Possibly the only thing better than Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is Pink Floyd's The Wall, but that's a tale for another review....

Floyd at their best! Innovative and classic...will never get old, fits all types of music genres. It has stood the test of time and will continue to for many decades to come.
Engineered by Alan Parsons of the Parson's Project.
Originally released in 1973 and re-released in CD form in 1993, proving that in 20 years it is still a favorite.  In 2003, Rolling Stone listed the all time favorite albums, Dark Side of the Moon came it at an impressive 43.
The album spent a staggering 741 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 chart.  No other album has come close to that length on the chart, Dark Side...
