Pinecone Research —

I was sent an invitation to join Pinecone Research almost 8 years ago by a friend who was on the site. I was accepted and have not regretted joining at all. I get an average of 2 surveys a week from them and they range in length from 10 to 40 minutes.

    What Pinecone is all about

Pincone is contacted by some of the largest manufactures in the country and some smaller ones as well. They then pass out surveys based on the info you supplied to them on your member page. Surveys are strictly confidential and they never sell your info to anyone, only the answers to the surveys are shared. Some surveys ask you if you would be willing to try the product if they were to send it too you. In that case you get paid for the survey and for any follow ups too that survey. Pinecone pays $5 per survey they send you, although they do send nonpaid short 5 minute or less feeler surveys. A feeler as I call it is just a general "Have you bought this or that in the past 30 days" type thing.

    My experience

I have done in home product testing for them on a wide variety of products and have actually went out and bought it after I tested it. It can be food, beauty items, cleaning stuff, whatever the manufacturers need to be tested to fine tune things. Allthough the products come in generic packaging you can sometimes tell who makes it.

I feel I am doing a good thing by belonging to this site as I am rather picky and will tell it like it is. Although it doesn't pay much it does help to promote a better product for the consumer. The extra money I do make I generally spend on my grandkids and I have on occasion just put it in the Charity jar at the grocery store when I cash my checks. The checks are good for 120 days and if I have my eye on something I save them up for that whole time and then get what I had my eye on!

    Bottom Line

Any time you can help the consumer public in making products better you should try to do just that. I take my role at Pinecone very serious and feel I am doing my part in making this a better world. The money paid is right at minimum wage so it's not a job per say, but it is an obligation than when handed to you should be taken serious. If more places like Pinecone existed then perhaps all these "Junk Products" may not even get to the consumer. I suppose that is wishful thinking but it is true and Pinecone is doing it's part to help.

The friend that got me into it told me that Pinecone is selective on who gets to join. I feel that is a good thing as it helps to get honest and true results for the people they represent. Anyone that is selected should take it seriously and if they feel its just extra money, well they are doing it for all the wrong reasons!

Sorry but I think that they've changed. They've accepted me, I didn't miss surveys, all of a sudden I try to log in and guess what? I'm blocked. I asked Karen, the first reason was to check to see if my survey was in my spam box, (meaning I missed my first survey) secondly Karen tells me that their surveys were not geared to families our "magnitude". She knew the size of my family when they signed me up. I received no removal notice or anything. Basically, they stopped using me because the opinions of large families don't count! Sorry, but you're praising these people like they're GODS yet I find them heartless and uncaring. What is $3?? I accepted it anyway yet their surveys are longer for less money. As for me, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They're not worth the time. When they were Acorn Research, they were great, but according to Karen Scott herself, the opinions of our family doesn't count because it's too big (basically I have too many children) the fact we are a nuclear family makes no nevermind. Good thing that that $6 a month does not make me or break me. It was the equivalent to a coupon for Ebay. I make no apologies, that's my opinion.

II did not like the underhanded way they lowered the honorarium. I also feel that it was unfair to kick me out of their site because I complained, not pay me for a lengthy survey, and refuse to answer my emails about returning the product for further compensation. I feel that their reputation is not as sterling as usually supposed and people need to know that.
Also, you may get more surveys yet you are doing more work for less money, which as you have stated is acceptable to you, but it is not to me.

I had no problem with what the did, in fact I get more surveys now...

They were very underhanded in the way they went from $5.00 per survey to $3.00 per survey. When I expressed displeasure at the underhanded way they had done this, they kicked me off. They did not pay me the reward for the last survey I did and I cannot get further compensation for returning the product. I have contacted them about this and they have not responded.

I have a problem with some of them, seems Firefox won't work with some of their surveys, so on them I just switch to IE and do them that way. That sucks being dumped like that! I enjoy doing them so I hope I don't get dumped, that would be a real bummer. thanks for reading Ron

I used to be in PineCone but they dumped me and I'm so bummed. For some reason their surveys would not work on my PC for a period of about 2 weeks and when I wrote to them and asked why they dumped me for non participation. Wahhhhh.

Some people seem to think survey sites exist only for the purpose of giving their members money instead of their true purpose.
