Something that should be kept in mind in this situation is the time of year when you went in for your portraits. December 7 is right in the middle of the busiest time of year for ANY portrait studio, Christmas! You say yourself you had a tenative appointment. Unfortunately, during this time, appointments run behind. Not all children react the same, the process of choosing portraits can be lengthy, even for those who are completely prepared. The system is not perfect, but all associates are human and are doing their best to photograph, show, choose and ring up all their customers. A typical Sunday during Christmas has 25 to 30 appointments as well as walk ins, pick-ups and other customers to answer questions for, not to mention the phone that is ringing off the hook.
Associates do their best to help every customer and make sure that they are happy, sometimes not getting breaks, including lunch, for hours. We get children who are unhappy, tired, hungry, sick and parents expect us to make the smile and be happy and take perfect pictures. We do our absolute best, but sometimes we just can't. In the midst of our defeat of not being able to get that perfect shot, we then catch heat from the parents because we didn't get it, even though we just worked our butts off, jumping around like a fool for that shot.
Keep in mind that after hours of this, with most likely no break to reclaim a litle sanity, we are still smiling and apologetic that we have not gotten that shot for you.
You may not have been compensated in store, but you were compensated with $50 to $100 worth of portraits. I apologize for your wait and the fact that you feel you were not treated properly.
An hour wait is not bad considering I know customers that have waited MUCH MUCH longer.
