Even if I wore dentures, I would not want such soggy veggies.

a fresh veggie girl, trying to eat better, picky on food
Pros

good idea - quick microwave, more mulch for the flower garden

Cons
some veggies ought not be microwaved, that poor asparagus, mushy as a bad romance novel, didn't even look good

I adore asparagus, so the PictSweet Spring Vegetables with Aspargus caught my eye. I'm not sure how they figured squash and carrots and red peppers were "spring." Asparagus is. The others are not. They're summer.

Frankly I've never thought of this combination. After eating it, that's a good thing. This is a bowl of mush. Even if I'm Southern, I like a bit of crunch to my veggies. Nothing crunchy a'tall here. In fact, this might work as baby food, but the taste is not great and they use peppercorn for seasonings. Don't abuse your little ones with these.

These Steamers by PIctSweet do sound great. Just stick the bag in the microwave with "this side up" like popcorn. Zap for five minutes. Instant healthy side dish. Some of them are decent - not great. This one is just dreadful.

I suppose I could reduce the cooking time and see if that helps any, but squash and asparagus are both rather soft. I lightly steam fresh, spring aspargus and usually fry or broil squash. Stick those delicate veggies in the microwave, and I should have known better. Mush city.

The boys just looked at this bowl of slimy, mushy vegetables and passed. I did eat a serving. I did not enjoy it, but I hate to waste food.

I usually try to save and use leftovers, but this was so bad the first round that I could not stomach the thought of warmed over and mushier still. I tried to give the dog a bite, but she ran behind the bush. So, this ended up as mulch in my flower garden. I really hate to do that with food and it so expensive, but I'd rather just go hungry than eat PictSweet Spring Vegetables. I'll just wait until the Farmer's Market opens up again here and get some real ones and cook them right. These were, indeed, awful.

I saw where you mentioned that you like your veggies fresh. Yep. That's for sure the best way. Some frozen are OK. These are not so great.
