Great Overall

I had received this as a gift for the Holiday season and was surprised by how strong of a smell it has. A little bit of this shampoo really gives you a nice lather. When it comes out of the bottle it has a nice thick consistency to it. I really wish it had some type of squeeze nozzle to it because I feel like it pours out fast. The price point of this item is a bit on the expensive side. Although the small bottle does allow you many washes, it is more on the higher price tag. This makes a great gift! Effectiveness Surprisingly this gives you a very good lather of suds to make you feel like a little bit of shampoo is going a long way. It very easily makes suds in your hair and rinses out very easily. Makes your hair feel smooth and silky as you are rinsing it out. Scent Has a very strong scent to it. It is a nice and pleasant Gingerbread smell, however I would only use this on special occasions such as the Holiday season. This is not a scent I would enjoy year round, such as in the Summer time. This is a special occasion scent.

Great Holiday Scent

4

I think I have tried each and every one of Philosophy's shower gels over the years and this still remains a holiday favorite! I try to get a bottle every year. I love the spicy scent that smells just like an actual gingerbread cookie! It's absolutely perfect for when the weather turns cooler. I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much in June, but it is delightful in the cooler months. The scent lingers on your skin and hair for hours after you shower, which I really enjoy. It performs as admirably as the other scents do. As a shampoo it cleans nicely, rinsing out completely and leaving no residue. It might not have enough moisture for you if you have particularly dry hair though. As for a shower gel it foams up beautifully when used in conjunction with a shower pouf. And as a bubble bath it produces plenty of long lasting bubbles. This is a great unisex scent. Some of the other scents might be considered too girly, but this spicy scent is perfect for guys and gals so you can share a bottle if you can bring yourself to!

Good, but scent is less than awesome.

All philosophy shower gels have certain characteristics in common: they all last a long time, provide an unexpected amount of lather, and carry a decent amount of scent. As much as I love gingerbread cookies, this particular product doesn't really resemble the smell of gingerbread men that much. It's close enough to be awkwardly reminiscent but has a few dissonant fragrances that I can't place and that ruin the effect. One last thing about philosopy products is that they are never especially cheap, so you really should only buy it if you absolutely love it. Try the scent out, compare it to their other offerings, and if you like it the best then buy it. But for me, even their other holiday scents were preferable to this. I'm a fan of the brand and of this line of products, just not this particular one. Plus there's the fact that you don't necessarily want to smell christmas, or see christmasy packaging all year long.

Smells great! Perfect during the holiday season

5

I love Christmas time! Companies of all sorts come out with some of the cutest ideas especially when it comes to holiday scents. I have been a big fan of Philosophy ever since I learned of the name. I was shopping online and came across the Philosophy The Gingerbread Man shower gel. I figured it would have a very sweet smell like most Christmas/food scents do. But I was truly surprised once I smelled it. It smells like fresh ginger, which I truly love. It's a nice break from the vanilla and peppermint smells that are so popular during the holiday season. Though a bit pricey I love Philosophy and I definitely love their Gingerbread Man shower gel. It always leaves me feeling clean and relaxed. You can buy this stuff anywhere though I prefer to buy it online when there is a coupon available. I hate that this scent is seasonal. I hope that they bring it back next year because I'd love to stock up!!! The scent is perfect and isn't overbearing at all! A must have for a busy mom that wants relaxation during the bath.

Philosophy The Gingerbread Man - It's less man and more ginger

5

I'm not sure why Philosophy decided to call this scent The Gingerbread Man. Sure, it's a great name for a holiday product -- it conjures up images of warm kitchens where trays of spicy, chewy cookies are just being pulled from the oven. However, this shower gel doesn't smell like gingerbread at all. Instead it has a far truer ginger scent. This is freshly sliced ginger. This is a piece of dried ginger with a little sugar -- a tinge of sweetness before a spicy bite. This is the sparkle of ginger ale. There's nothing bready or cookie-like here. And that's exactly what I like about this shower gel. I'm not a foody-scents kinds of girl; if this product actually smelled like gingerbread, all oversweetened and cloying, I wouldn't go near it. I only found out the truth after I got a sample from Philosophy. One sniff and I was hooked. I love gingery scents, especially when I'm not feeling well. Ginger settles the stomach -- why do you think your mom gave you ginger ale when you had an upset tummy as a child? I find the scent does almost the same thing for me, so I picked up a bottle of this last Christmas for when I'm having one of those not-so-great days. It's a calming, refreshing scent that makes me feel a little better. As far as the gel itself, it's a pretty typical shower gel. I don't find it particularly moisturizing, but it's not drying either. A squirt on a bath poof creates plenty of lather; a more generous squirt under running water makes for an adequate bubble bath. Really, Philosophy missed out twofold when naming this product. It disappoints people who are expecting the scent of a freshly iced gingerbread house, and it drives away people like me who expect a dessert scent. But the gel itself is awesome if you like the scent of ginger.

Philosopy Gingerbread Man Shower Gel Smells like the holidays

5

Who doesn't love the smell of the holidays and gingerbread? Well Philosophy created a holiday smelling (although not exactly gingerbread) bath and shower gel called the Gingerbread Man! I love most of Philosophy's bath and shower gels because they can be used as bubble bath in the tub, shower gel in the shower and they even work great as a yummy shampoo to make you hair smell great! I love this one because it gets me in the holiday spirit! The biggest complaint I have is that I do think they can be a little pricy for shower gel. On the up side the philosophy website puts them on sale regularly and on sale I think they are a great price for such a fun quality item. I know many people that feel like this does not really smell like gingerbread. I agree, however, I really really like the way it smells even if it is not exactly gingerbread. Perhaps Philosophy should have thought more about the name, or consider renaming it now! If you what a 'holiday" shower gel" I would recommend this one, if you want the exact smell of gingerbread this may not be for you.

Just gingy

I truly want to love all Philosophy products but they make it so hard for me to do so. I had every intention on loving this little Gingerbread Man product and for the most part I do from its cute little clever packaging to its cool idea, but what I don't love is the scent.  I don't know if its just me but whenever I buy a Philosophy scented bath product it never smells to me the way it is decribed.  The gingerbread smells spicy and sort of like clove to me but not the way a true gingerbread cookie actually smells like. Still, I like the way it luxuriously lathers and the way the scent envelopes a steamy bath room and the way it pampers my skin like a baby.  And did I mention the packaging (I believe I did). Philosophy has the coolest packaging ever.  It definitely is hard to resist.  Of course, this product is on the expensive side but it does have benefits that the store branded products don't, so you do get what you pay for.

Christmas-time in a bottle

4

I love the philosophy of... Philosophy. They aim to create products that are not only great for your skin but also for your well-being. So they're taking advantage (not that I blame them) of our amygdalas and making aromas that remind you of "Christmas" or "that trip to Cozumel" or "your great-grandma's famous saltwater taffy."  This particular line of Philosophy products - the Gingerbread Man - comes in bubble bath form, shower gel form and a hot salt body scrub. I've only tried the shower gel and was very pleased. It was moisturizing and cleansing and smelled great.  Gingerbread man products would make great Christmas gifts for any girl or even guy - though he would have to be okay with bathing with another man! The Gingerbread man lathers up well and leaves you with a great ginger spice scent. This will make you feel very Christmas-y.  The drawback to Philosophy products is that they tend to be rather expensive. So use sparingly!

Great Scent and Product for the Holidays

4

I really love Philosophy products because not only are they good for your skin, but it seems like every month they come out with new scent varieties and I love to try the newest ones.  I couldn't wait to try the **Philosophy The Gingerbread Man** because it sounded perfect for the holidays.  I bought one for me and a couple for gifts because not only did the scent sound wonderful, but I see the product as a great deal because it is actually three products in a one.  I love the cute bottle it comes in with an easy cap to open and the cute gingerbread man on the label.  I use this as a shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and it leaves my skin and hair feeling and looking great.  The scent is the sweet smell of fresh gingerbread, with spices of ginger and cinnamon and reminds me of the holidays.  It is a great product to use and smell when you want to relax, and the scent won't overpower your hair or skin.  The lather foams up easily and doesn't leave a residue on your skin or in your hair.  This is a great product for the holidays and a great scent.  Just a little of the product is needed for a great lather, and it works great for bubbles to relax with in the bath.  I recommend this for you and a gift because it is a great way to bring the holidays to your shower.

You don't have to go out of your way for the Gingerbread Man

3

I don't know how expensive this product is, as I recieved it as a gift, but I must say I am not overjoyed with Philosophy's Gingerbread Man shower gel. Typically, I'm a bar soap kind of girl, but I don't mind shower gel as something different. The gel itself is fine, it lathers up nicely. It's the scent I wasn't too sure of. I kind of smell some ginger in it, but up close, on your body and hands and just out of the bottle, it smells more chemical. I think they are really off target to name it 'Gingerbrerad Man'. I was expecting something warmer. I also found the scent does not last too long., both a good and a bad thing. One last thing I want to mention is that my husband does really like it, and has basically taken over the bottle.
