I use a daily facial moisturizer before applying makeup. I need something light enough so that it dries thoroughly and doesn't interfere with my foundation. I have tried many that only cause my makeup to pill because it was too thick and didn't dry properly. Others just make me break out. My sister introduced me to Philosophy Hope in a Jar Moisturizer for All Skin Types and that is what I have stuck with ever since.

About Philosophy Hope in a Jar

According to the Philosophy website, this facial product is a "World-renown moisturizer loaded with antioxidants in a unique soufflé texture. Originally created for the medical market to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, skin discoloration, rough texture and dehydration. Hope in a Jar dramatically improves skin radiance and gently exfoliates, revealing smoother, healthier looking skin and texture."

My Experience

After washing my face each morning with either Philosophy Purity Made Simple One Step Facial Cleanser or Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash, I apply Philosophy Hope in a Jar Moisturizer to my face. The cream is white, lightweight and non-greasy. The scent is somewhat medicinal. It's not a bad scent; it's just not overly fragrant. Because of the exfoliating element, it doesn't go on as smoothly as other facial moisturizers I've used. My face definitely feels moisturized and doesn't look shiny. The product absorbs quickly and I'm able to apply my foundation within a few minutes without it pilling.

My Final Viewpoint

Since using Philosophy Hope in a Jar Moisturizer, the overall appearance of my skin has improved and is noticeably healthier. It is definitely a facial moisturizer that I recommend but be prepared to pay quite a bit for it. A one-ounce jar is currently selling for $28. In response to GigiandAdonai's comment from Jan 25, 2009 at 9:40AM:

Gigi, try Philosophy The Present under makeup. It hydrates but it also seals your face against make up so it doesn't sink into your pores or disappear. It's great stuff and a little goes a LONGGGGGGGGG way. I never put makeup on without a primer and usually its The Present.

Or be prepared to get a TWO ounce jar free from your sister! Haha. I like this and the dry skin formula. I use this in the day and the dry skin type at night or Wei East. My face needs hydration all the time.

This sounds like something I might need to check into. Because of my dry skin I need something that can serve as a good foundation under my makeup. I have had some luck with the Clinique products but they are sooo expensive I don't use them on a regular basis. If I'm not careful I will get that cracked up and peeling look under my makeup too; especially on my forhead and cheeks ;+{ ~Gigi

I haven't either - but this winter is playing havoc on my skin! And the lancome moisturizer is so expensive!

I have never tried any of the Philosophy moisturizers. Sounds like this is working great for you!
