Philosophy's Amazing Grace Perfumed Body Emulsion Lotion is one of my favorite body lotions to use. I discovered it a few years ago and it has become a staple of my routine or cabinet since. Just like its title suggests, this body lotion smells like Philosophy's signature scent, Amazing Grace. It is subtle, sweet, romantic and elegant. This scent, however, is light and not overpowering for a lotion. For this reason, I prefer it to most lotions that accompany fragrances. As far as lotions go, Philosophy's Amazing Grace Perfumed Body Emulsion Lotion is great. It is really light and fluffy or whipped. It goes on easily and absorbs rather quickly. I like it apply it after having used a body scrub exfoliator, because I find that this brings the lotion to its fullest potential. Afterwards, my skin is the softest its ever been - almost like it was when I was a child. For these reasons alone, I definitely recommend Philosophy's Amazing Grace Perfumed Body Emulsion Lotion. And look out for the set if you like the scent, too!

Not easy to find, but wonderful stuff.

What drew my attention to the Grace line of products was the name itself. It's my daughter's nickname. I was at the mall (Macy's I think) and I started reading about it. I know you can't always trust what the labels say, but it sounded just interesting enough for me to try it. I like the design and look of the bottle. Very nouveau and simple. I ended up getting the whole line of products they sell as I had a gift certificate, and it was cheaper in a pack. I liked this lotion quite a bit. It felt good putting on after a shower, blended easily into the skin and had a delightful smell. Can't think of a better word than delightful. It smelled like a lotion you would wear on a spring day or something as it made me think of grass and gardens in their beginning stages. I love trying new body lotions so much and go through a LOT of them. This is a lotion I will definitely keep on hand, and would love to give it as a gift. It's not the cheapest lotion, but worth the price since a little can go a long ways, plus make your skin feel silky like.

Good Lotion-High Price

I really like all Philosophy products, although I don't get to buy them as often as I would like because of the price. In the past I used the Philosophy Amazing Grace Perfumed Firming Body Emulsion Lotion, and I really liked the product. On the lotion side of it, I did feel like this worked well to keep my skin moisturized. It helped keep me from getting dry skin while I used it. I also tend to have sensitive skin, so I really like products that are gentle enough for daily use on my skin. This didn't cause any problems with irritation or skin sensitivity. The one real negative is the price of this lotion. I find it hard to spend so much money on this lotion, when I can get similar results from a cheaper brand. With Philosophy I sometimes think you are just paying for the name. Absorption This absorbed really well into my skin. It did not make it oily at all. Effectiveness This kept my skin from getting too dry during the winter months.

strongly scented

One thing I have noticed with Philosophy products are that they are very strongly scented. These are not lotions you would want to use with clashing perfumes or else you'll be a whole mess of scents. Either wear the coordinating perfume or don't wear any at all when wearing this lotion. Like all other Philosophy products I have tried, this absorbs nicely and leaves your skin feeling very soft. It has a good amount of moisture in it and leaves your skin feeling hydrated. I like that it does leave your skin feeling sticky like other lotions. I did not, however, notice that this lotion made my skin any firmer. It was hydrating, but that was it. I had heard from other people that they had needed to use a couple bottles of this before they started seeing results, but in my mind an effective lotion starts working and showing results right away. Because this doesn't, it's just not worth it in my opinion, especially for the price.

Nice, but not nice enough to justify the price.

I received this as a Christmas present, and was very grateful for it, and enjoy it very much. However, I would NEVER purchase this for myself, because the price is completely outrageous, for what is, in reality, the same lotion you can buy in any drugstore for a fraction of the price. Seriously, read the ingredients on the bottle and then compare it to the ingredients of something like Nivea CO10 lotion. Philosphy is not filling those bottles with unicorn farts, so the price makes no sense. Scent I do love the scent. I don't even know how to describe it except to say that it smells soft and clean. It reminds me a little of ivory soap mixed with honey. Absorption It's rich and creamy, but absorbs nicely and leaves my skin soft and hydrated but not greasy. Effectiveness This is where Philosophy's claims get a little dicey. If they just touted this as a fabulous moisturizer that leaves your skin smooth and hydrated I'd give it a 10. However this is supposed to be "firming," and come on ladies...that's just a load of bunk. There IS NO LOTION THAT FIRMS THE BODY. This is a scientific fact! Collagen molecules, which determine skin's firmness, are too large to pass through the outer layer of the skin. The "firming" benefits of body lotion are nothing more than the skin being temporarily plumped up by hydration. A few hours after using it, that temporary plumping goes away. So as an educated consumer I have to call bull poop on the firming claims.

Expensive

My mother had purchased this for me for Christmas one year. I found that I did not like it because it was too strong of a scent for me, I easily get headaches. After using it a few times I gave it to her and this is the only lotion she will use now. She buys a large bottle and it lasts her a year. When I did use it I found that a very small amount would cover a large surface area of your body. However, this product is more on the expensive side. I would not constantly buy this product for myself, this would be a "treat" item for myself. If you use this I would not suggest using a perfume on top of it or it would be very overpowering. Scent I found that this product was way too perfume-y and to strong for my liking. I thought it would have a more subtle smell to it but it is one of the more perfume-y smelling lotions that I have used. Absorption It went into your skin very easily. I did find that it did not give you that greasy feeling or heavy feeling on your skin. It was very light. Effectiveness It helped with my dry skin for the small amount of time that I did use it. Using just a little bit went a long way with helping the dry skin. I do think that this could be a perfume and a lotion all in one.

It is not expensive!

I think a common misconception about this "lotion" is that it is expensive, or it does not work. So to address these two things first is important. #1. It is not just a lotion. If it were just a lotion that had the intent to moisturize and leave the skin soft, than it would be overpriced, but it is not. It is a firming lotion, that is suppose to make your skin feel tighter. This brings me to the second point; #2. It does work. If you are looking to get rid or your fat or tone your muscles, hit the gym. This tightens your skin a bit, so for areas that are just a little flabby, it works great! Don't believe me? try it on your chest! This is where I use it and I felt that my skin was tighter there! Granted I am not a large cup size, but it still does a good job! Scent The scent is great! Effectiveness It tightens your skin, and the longer you use it, the better the result you will notice. So, keep using it past your FIRST bottle! Overall, great product!

great lotion... not sure about the rest

I tried the amazing grace lotion after receiving it as a free sample. I was pleasantly surprised with the smell of the lotion and the overall feel of it. The lotion is not too greasy by any means and does not take long to sink into the skin. It also leave a nice scent lingering behind without being over powering. Overall, I would rate this lotion as an excellent lotion, although I'm not sure of its anti-aging effects. I have not seen the lotion preform any miracles and make my skin completely taunt by any means. The downsides of this product is first the cost. There is only so much spending I can rationalize. Second, the lotion could use to be slightly thicker (although this could be a matter of preference). In sum, this is a great lotion to try. I most likely will not make it my everyday lotion but I have enjoyed using it since I got it. If you are looking for a change or for a treat give this lotion a go, if you are looking for some serrious anti-aging effects you may want to look elsewhere

Philosophy lotion smells great and feels amazing on skin

4

I have been using this product for two weeks now in preparation for my upcoming spring break trip to the beach. I have quite a bit of cellulite on my thighs and thought I would at least give this product a try. What I like best about Philosophy's lotion in the scent. The amazing grace scent is femmine and floral, yet clean smelling at the same time. You definitely smell the product, but the scent is not overwhelming to me. I do not like a scent to be over powering and I think this lotion strikes the perfect balance. As for the lotion's firming ability, I have not seen much difference yet. I am hopeful that if I continue to use the product I will see some results. I do feel a skin tightening effect when I massage the lotion into my skin. Hopefully it will start working soon!

Amazing Grace is my favorite light, non-greasy lotion

4

This product is great for: lightly firming your skin, giving you that silky feeling that lasts all day, with a nice, mild scent that's not flowery or purfumey. What it won't do: moisturize really dry skin, or repair cracked skin, or make your skin radically younger-looking. No one should expect that from the package description, but some people still have misconceptions. It's not an anti-wrinkle cream for your body, so it's not for people who think they need some kind of intense and drastic treatment. It really does make your skin firmer, though, and it does last from shower to shower. It takes a little while to absorb, but once it is absorbed, it's one of the least greasy lotions I have ever tried. If you use it everyday, you will get used to having silky skin and will forget that it's the lotion. To me the scent is a little feminine, but not overly so, which is nice. It smells clean. Good value.
