Over the last few years, I've developed gingivitis and require an extra cleaning each year to keep it under control. Still, I noticed that I was getting a fair amount of "dental staining" (aka dark-colored calculus) building up on my teeth between visits. My husband, who has also struggled with gingivitis, had already converted to a Sonicare and I decided to take the plunge. I chose the e3000 because one of the complaints regarding the rechargeable brushes was that after a time, the internal battery would no longer hold a charge and the whole brush had to be thrown away.

The first few times using the Sonicare, it felt really funny. And it was hard to brush for the full two-minute cycle (clearly I hadn't been brushing long enough with a manual toothbrush). But, my teeth felt cleaner after each brushing and the "staining" between dental visits dramatically decreased. I haven't noticed any particular improvement with the gingivitis symptoms, but I still feel the Sonicare was a good investment. It makes brushing easy, as it's pre-timed and I don't have to manually brush anymore. Plus, the visible results are great and I like the way my teeth feel. A set of batteries usually lasts 2-3 weeks, and you could even use some AA rechargeables if you prefer. The only thing I don't like about this brush? The cost of replacement heads.

Durability
Seems good, but I've had it less than a year.

This is a battery-operated toothbrush. I specifically bought this brand because my rechargable Sonicare had given me 2 years of use before it quit working. I am sorry to say that I only got 3 uses out of the Sonicare Xtreme 3000 toothbrush before it quit working. I tried replacing batteries but it still wouldn't work. I do not recommend this product.

Philips Sonicare is a great brand for those needing a deep clean

Comments about Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Toothbrush 02:

Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Power Toothbrush is the brand my husband and I use. It gets deep into the teeth crevices to clean out small bits that normal brushing may miss. And it is electronic, so the vibrations kick up more food particles and keep you from having to move it around in your mouth much. It's moving bristles give a better clean with less work.

Performance/Cleaning
I like the fact that it gives a deeper clean and that it's moving head keeps you from having to move it around as much as a manual toothbrush. With a manual toothbrush you have to move it up and down and all around in your mouth, brushing front and back and sides, and using a lot of effort, and guessing how long it has been in there. With the Sonicare, it moves back and forth for you, and cleans deeper. All you have to do is slightly move it from back to front, and then flip it over to get the top row. It does the rest of the work for you, and it beeps when it is time to change sides, and shuts off when it has run for the 2 minute mark, letting you know you have brushed long enough.

Durability
My husband and I got ours a couple years ago, and they still work to this day. We change out the heads every so often, as they are replaceable, but the base with the electronic part is still the same one we got years ago. And it runs on batteries, so a fresh pair ever other month or so, and it is good as new.

Really like it

Comments about Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Toothbrush 02:

I've never had any other similar toothbrush but with this one I feel like I had a professional cleaning. My husband tried it and said the same thing. When I use regular toothbrush I can fell a huge difference in cleaning and can't be without my Sonicare for long.

Durability
The only "bad" thing is the head that needed to be changed before the time I expected. Also, batteries don't last too long.

Your gums will wake up!

By

from Palacios, TX

Comments about Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Toothbrush 02:

I purchased the Sonicare e-series about 2 months ago. Mine is the battery operated model. I love this toothbrush! It took about a month for my gums to get accustomed to it but after that I was fine. My dental checkup showed signs of gingivitus. Ugh! So this toothbrush was recommended. It is very powerful so get ready for the wake up call in the morning or whenever you brush. The only downside is that it will use up your batteries quickly. However, I brush 2 - 3 times a day so that may have something to do with it. I like to laugh and smile a lot so I have to make sure my teeth are in good shape. This is definately worth the purchase. Great for traveling too!

Pretty decent.

Comments about Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Toothbrush 02:

I got this toothbrush as a Christmas present this year. I used to use a Oral-B battery operated toothbrush before I got this. I was a little afraid of it as I have a really small mouth, which is why I liked Oral-B for the small brush head. The brush head isn't very big though after I used it. The other thing that scared me with it is it's pretty loud and makes a "interesting" noise when you turn it on, compared to other brushes i've heard. It's weird using at first, my mouth felt as it was asleep after using it. My mouth had that tingly, almost numb feeling, which wore off after a few minutes. I was warned about that feeling at first though, as many people experience it. It's a great toothbrush though overall. After getting used to the different feelings, I've had no problems so far. My teeth feel a lot cleaner so far! I even attempted to use my old Oral-B to see which I liked better, and I'll be sticking with the Sonicare :)

keeps my mouth clean

Comments about Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Toothbrush 02:

I am obsessive about having clean teeth so I brush my teeth at least twice a day so that I do not get any cavities. One of the tools I use to keep my teeth clean is the Philips sonicare Xtreme toothbrush. It gets in every corner of my mouth and removes the plaque build up that i have. This tooth brush uses batteries, but the battery life is not short for my brush. This tooth brush has a very helpful timer that I use to let me know when i have brushed long enough. The timer is also good for my kids when they use their sonicare brushes because for them, ten seconds is all they need in order to "clean" their teeth. So the timer helps them to stay in the bathroom brushing their teeth until the timer tells them it is okay to stop brushing. The heads on this brush are easy to replace and they do not cost that much money. The vibrations of the brush head when I turn it on do not hurt my sensitive gums so that is another plus.

Xtreme E3000 is unexpensive and great for travel

By

Comments about Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Toothbrush 02:

My dentist recommended the Sonicare toothbrush, but all the models cost quiet a lot. And then I have found this particular Xtreme E3000 model for the fraction of the rest Sonicare models. Besides being cheap it has another great factor - the brush works on AA batteries so they are great for travellers since you don't have to carry the charger around and don't have to worry about the voltage in different countries.

The sonicare toothbrush has really helped with gum disease.

By

from Sammamish, WA

Comments about Philips Sonicare Xtreme e3000 Toothbrush 02:

The Sonicare toothbrush is a huge improvement over a manual toothbrush. I like that it provides options as to how long each portion of your mouth is brushed, but also that it gives an extra "set" of brushing so that I can go over any trouble spots. It was easy to program my personal settings. The battery lasts about 2 weeks before it needs to be recharged. The recharging time is a little long--it usually takes 2 days of being plugged into the charger. Not a big deal unless both my husband and I need to recharge our toothbrushes at the same time. The brushes themselves are a little pricey--I find that I use the brush way beyond the recommended change time because of the cost of the brushes. It would be nice if the brushes had a 'wear' color-coded line indicating when to change the brush; I don't always remember when I last put on a new brush. It would be nice if the cap that protects the brushes after use was a little wider. It tends to compress the bristles, and not allow much airflow around the bristles so that they can 'dry out'. I would definitely purchase another Sonicare electric toothbrush.
