This toothbrush is excellent and works wonderfully, however the batteries cannot be replaced and the unit will end up in a landfill after several years of use. Performance/Cleaning Sonicare toothbrushes do a great job at keeping your teeth clean and are well designed. This toothbrush has made a great difference in my dental hygiene over the past few years, and it is fun to use. Durability Philips sells replacement heads for these toothbrushes, but there is no way to change the battery other than opening the toothbrush with a utility knife or some other tool. I am currently using my second base unit/handle for this Sonicare because of dead batteries that I was unable to replace. This "planned obsolescence" is unacceptable because it is overly expensive to consumers and harmful to the environment. I hope that Philips makes an easy way to replace the batteries for their Sonicare series in the future.

Since I do a lot of reviews and writing on line I often get sent stuff to review from various companies. Due to one of the web sites I write for I was sent an offer to receive and review the Philips Sonicare Advance Toothbrush HX4101/02. I was very happy to do so. I have been using for about a month now, so I thought that was a sufficient amount of time to know how it is working for me. The Sonicare electric toothbrush was really easy to set up for use. All I had to do was screw the top part of it on. There were batteries already in it so I did not even have to fuss with putting batteries in. The toothbrush comes with its own stand that you plug in to the wall and that stand also is a charger and helps it stay charged. The stand is nice and thin and does not take up a lot of space on the counter top which is appreciated. This toothbrush has a neat function where once you turn it on it is on a timer. It will brush your teeth for 2 minutes before it shuts off so that you know that you have brushed your teeth for the preferred amount of time. Sometimes that seems like a really long time though. Often all of the toothpaste is gone before the timer goes off too. Of course you don't want to add more as it is vibrating because it will spray all over the place. Of course if want to turn it off sooner you can. Another feature it has is that the first 12 brushes are a little bit more gentle so that your mouth has time to adjust to an electric toothbrush before it starts to work more normally. I really do feel a difference in the way my teeth feel after I use this compared to a manual toothbrush. They feel much cleaner. I also like that because of the way that it vibrates and spins that it helps to get in between my teeth and clean out stuff in there a normal toothbrush would never get so that makes me very happy. I am really happy to have received this toothbrush and I really appreciate what it is doing for my teeth. I do recommend it. Performance/Cleaning Very good, my teeth really do feel a lot cleaner than when I brushed with a manual toothbrush. Plus I don't pull out as much when I floss anymore and that is a good thing. Durability Hard to say at this point. I have only had it for about a month, but it seems quite solid and well built. The quality is good.

This is one of the best purchases that i have ever made without a doubt! Since buying mine, I have bought one for both my parents and my sister and brother-in-law. I can really tell a difference not only with how my teeth feel and are cleaned, but also with the health of my gums. Yes, you have to buy refill heads, but it is easy enough to find coupons or rebates and further you do not have to buy them all that often. I also like that you just plug in the charger to charge it (instead of buying new batteries for it everytime--yikes!). I typically only need to charge my toothbrush about one time per week and it will take about twenty-four hours to achieve a full charge. Easy to travel with if you choose to as well--with or without the charger!

The Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 was recommended to me by my dentist. He told me that an electric toothbrush would help me with my oral hygiene. I was a little skeptical about using an electric toothbrush at first because I was not too sure if it would be too hard on my gums. I was really surprised that the Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 was very gentle on my gums. After brushing with the Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 my mouth felt like after coming back from the dentist after a through cleaning. It was refreshed and the brush almost felt like it was massaging my gums instead of beating them up. It foamed up my toothpaste a lot more than I could have with a manual toothbrush. After about a week of use I felt like my mouth was a lot healthier than when I had started. Even my dentist noticed a difference when I went back for my next cleaning, I would highly recommend the Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 to anyone who asked me for my opinion.

My husband has been using this product for two years. He is very satisfied with this product. He said it charges fast, easy to use, easy to clean. When  you use it, the noise is very minimal. My husband has tooth problems since he was little thus he is very picky on what dental devices he uses. He has tried many brands, simple tooth brush or electric ones, after long searching, i'm glad he found his favriote - Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 Electric Toothbrush! The first one he had lasts about two years, which is pretty good compared to other brand. He said he introduces this brand to his friends and co-workers too. Now almost all my family members has his/her own Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 Electric Toothbrush. For those people who have been searching a good electronic tooth brush, i recommend you guys give Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 Electric Toothbrush a try. I'm very sure that you won't be disappointed.

Some of the models can be quite expensive.  When my original Sonicare died, I replaced it with this Advance (4100) model.  My old one had the feature of the 30 second interval beeps, this one does not (and I do not miss it).  I did not feel that some of the extra features of more expensive models was worth the price.  I somewhat regret that now, due to the brush heads.  The inside of the brush heads to this model gets **disgusting**.  I have to clean it out often with Q-tips.  It really is not a big deal to clean though, I just am squeamish to slimy things.  The Sonicare keeps my mouth, as a whole, healthier.  My gums have improved since using it, so my dentist says.  It is a great toothbrush for a lazy brusher such as myself.  It did take some adjustment time in the beginning, as my gums were not used to the force.  I will never go back to a manual toothbrush, and once this one dies, I will get another Sonicare.

As a dental professional-not only do we use this brush in my household-this is the one i reccomend most to our patients. It is reasonably oriced, there are usually rebates available, and it does such an excellent job. Most of the patients i have advised to buy thiscome in for their next checkup pleased and with much improved oral hygiene. i have seen patients who have had horrible gum problems almost to the point of needing specialized peiodontal treatement be able to get one of these brushes and when they use it daily have had much impoved dental hygiene on their next appointment. It is easy to use, and basically does all teh work for you so patients are pleased to be doing something to improve their dental hygiene that really doesn't take too much money, effort or time. I would and do reccomend this brush to patients, friends and family and will continue to do so. The Phillips bruses in general are all excellent products

The Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 was the first electric toothbrush that I owned. For the longest time I used manual toothbrushes, but my dentist finally convinced me to try an electric one because he said it would be much better for my teeth and that I would have better results. Boy was she right! This thing is fantastic! I'm never going back to manual toothbrushes ever again. It feels like the dentist just cleaned my mouth each time I used this toothbrush. I really cannot say enough positive things about it. The obvious downside is the price, which is way more than a manual toothbrush, but that was too be expected. The real downer is the cost of replacement heads, which add cost to the toothbrush over time. But I think teeth are a wise investment and will stick with this toothbrush for a while. Overall, I would recommend purchasing this toothbrush if you are in the market for an electronic toothbrush.

This Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 Electric Toothbrush is the best toothbrush I have ever used it cleans my teeth really well it is as if a denist has just cleaned them. This toothbrush's soft bristles are perfect as i can apply any amount of pressure I want especially since I have sensitive teeth so it dosen't hurt them at all.  Since I have been using this Phillips electric toothbrush my mouth has been much cleaner and also my teeth have been much whiter.  This electric toothbrush is awesome and effective I will never go back to using a manual toothbrush as this one cleans much better, and improves my overall oral health. I am very glad that Phillips made this product as I am less worried about the chance of me getting gingivitis and other oral health problems as this product is much superior than other electric toothbushes I have used in the past not only does it give my teeth a superb cleaning it also is very easy to use and although it is somewhat expensive i think it is worth it. I would buy this toothbrush any day and for anybody as it is very unique and ensures better oral health for all.

I absolutely love the Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 Electric Toothbrush.  I started using it whenever my dentist and one of my friends recommended the toothbrush to me and I am so glad the I invested in this product.  I really enjoy using the toothbrush and the way it leaves my teeth and mouth feeling.  Every time I use the Philips Sonicare Advance 4100 Electric Toothbrush it gives me a mouth that feels clean and refreshed.   I think using this product it give me as good of a cleaning as a cleaning at the dentist or maybe even better.  Everytime I go to the dentist they are impressed with the way my teeth are clean in the hard to reach spaces.  Although this product is a little on the expensive side and the replacement brushes are also expensive I believe it well worth the money spent on it.  I wished the replacement brushes were a little more cheaper, because I tend to wait until I absolutely need a replacement before purchasing one.  But I am still really satisfied with this product and would recommend everyone to invest in one.
