My Philips DVD player gets the job done and is a fair price, but I think if I could go back and buy a different one, I would. There seems to be a common theme among DVD players in that they frequently have a noticeable delay for the dvd tray to pop out. You push the "open/close" button, and finally 5 minutes later, it decideds to comply and open up. I guess realistically it's more like a 5 second delay, but living in the spoiled culture that I do, when I push "open," I want it to open. It also takes a while for it to warm up. When I push the power button, it takes its time waking up and getting a move on. It wants to be sure it's good and ready before it actually commits to doing anything. On the positive side, I have never had any problems with it playing my dvds or mp3s, and it has a comprable quality to more expensive brands. Other than the fact that it stopped working after less than 2 years, it takes a long to warm up, and the dvd tray takes a long time to open, this is a decent dvd player for what you're paying.
