I use these disks for permanent back up of video, audio, and some large text files. I also use them for backing up computer programs such as large Linux operating systems. The maximum writing speed of these disks is 16 times play speed so that means backups are quick.

Marking the contents of each disk is difficult on this particular brand of DVD-R because the discs already come with a significant amount of writing on them labeling what they are in white over silver. I preserve these disks for large files so I have minimal writing to do on the disk with my CD/DVD Marker Sharpie. Philips Value Pack 100 x DVD-R 4.7 GB 16x spindle storage media got only three points because of this annoying feature.
