The Phantom of the Opera movie produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber was a flopped attempt at creating a live stage musical version on film. His first and major flaw was casting Butler as Phantom. Butler could NOT sing. His has no singing ability what so ever. He would never have been casted for the musical stage version - so why ruin the movie version with this sap? Webber cast Emmy Rossum as Christine - a nice fit, although a little young. Her facial expression never changes throughout the movie. A deer in the headlights if you will. Patrick WIlson - Raoul - was the only TRUE Broadway performer in...

I found many things about this movie disappointed me.  The "young and sexy" casting was a bad decision.  Emmy Rossum does not have the singing ability to convincingly play Christine (who is supposed to be an opera singer!) and her acting was also mediocre.  Gerard Butler is not a great singer either and it is hard to look past the fact that he is much too young to be playing the Phantom. His "deformity" was no worse than a bad sunburn. Patrick Wilson was a fine Raoul; I did not love his singing personally but he was by far the best of the three. I thought the rest of the cast did a fine job.... review »

Oh my gosh!! I have been to the Broadway musical Phantom of the Opera , and read the book. The books are always a little different from the movie, but that is normal in any "book to movie. As far as being like the Broadway musical, they are very much alike. The music was the same and was awesome. I found myself singing along. Wonderful movie with wonderful music. And of course made me cry like a baby.

This is an andrew Lloyd Webber masterpeice. the melodies are beautiful and the characters are very entertaing. The songs will get stuck in your head and you will love it. It's a classic love story with a twist. I reccommend this to any one who loves classic music, operas, or musicals.

This movie is the best movie that I have ever seen. My daughter turned me on to it by watching it all the time. I couldn't get into it at first, but, hearing it everyday, I had to turn around from playing on my computer to actually watch it. It has dreams, adventure, romance, love, action, horror, and it has unrequited love and love like no other. This move is the BOMB for me. I know that it is Opera, but, if you sit and watch it and listen to the words and watch the special effects, you will like it like I did.

This musical starts out slow, but once into it you can't stop watching.  It even gets to be a tear jerker towards the end when the phantom loses his mask.

The music portions were fantastic and the singers were great!!

This movies is a must see for everyone.

I truly had no desire to watch this movie and was so pleasantly surprised.  My 9 year-old daughter loves watching it as well.
