I always have two cats in the house, except for the time when we had to adopt my aunt's cat after the aunt had a stroke. Then  it was three cats for a few years. The current cats are Maddie (age 7) and Jingly (age 8), both females. They are strictly indoor cats. Both are domestic shorthairs that we adopted from people who had a cat with a litter of kittens. And it is amazing how two cats can have such different personalities.
