I always love hearing about what kinds of animals other people own.  We have 3 cats: a 5 year old gray tabby male, a 5 year old longhaired black female, and a 3 year old semi-feral orange tabby male.  We also have 3 parrots: a 6 year old Blue & Gold macaw, a 5 year old Eclectus female, and a 15 year old Timneh African Grey.

Right now, I have a 10 year old Jack Russell Terrier who is my best friend in the world and who I love as much I do any family member. I have a cream colored cat aptly named Creamy who is around 8 years old. Great cat. I have a scardey cat named Princess who is about 6 years old. She is strictly indoors and is scared of everything. But she is a great hunter.

And our newest pet is a tiny orange kitty we found tossed on a highway at night in a rainstorm three weeks ago. My husband saw something in the road and we backed up three miles looking for it. He spotted something and found this baby kitten on the other side of the guardrail. I jumped out of the car and went to work, ignoring his little hissy fit (the cat's, not my husband's). scooping him up, inspecting him, and holding him as we drove home. He was a mess. About five weeks old and filthy, greasy, skinny, eyes all crusty, scared. NOW...he's a fat spoiled kitten who is really a beauty. He is about 8 weeks old and healthy. He has his first vet's visit next week. I never planned to keep him but he got to us all and now we all love him.

Next week, I may have even more animals. I heard there is a little homeless kitten not far from here that people are feeding but not caring for. I sense I will go and look for it and give it the Patty treatment. I can't ever turn my back on any animal. At one point, I had 13 cats, 10 of which I found or took in for various reasons.

Although technically I don't own any pets in the normal sense, my elderly mom and I have a pretty cool arrangement with our "backyard" neighbor Elena.  She owns a Lab-Husky mix named Laika, who we bring over to spend the daytime hours (usually from 9:30 AM to 8 PM) because Elena spends much of the day outside the home and often goes at night as well.

Patty, you have a wonderful heart.  I will trust anyone who shows that much compassion to an animal.  Because I raised three boys we have had our fair share of animals as well.  I used to think we could charge admission!
We've had all kinds of newts, lizards, iguanas, ferrets, birds, fish, dogs, cats, rabbits, frogs and fish.  We even had a Boa Constrictor who had gotten old and needed a retirement home from our local nature preserve.  That meant we had to raise mice for food...  The boys are grown and we have one little Yorkshire Terrier who rules the roost.

I always have two cats in the house, except for the time when we had to adopt my aunt's cat after the aunt had a stroke. Then  it was three cats for a few years. The current cats are Maddie (age 7) and Jingly (age 8), both females. They are strictly indoor cats. Both are domestic shorthairs that we adopted from people who had a cat with a litter of kittens. And it is amazing how two cats can have such different personalities.

I have a black cat and her name is Princess Diana. We have an ongoing game between us. She thinks she is the queen, and I have to remind her that she is the princess and I am the queen of the house! She is spoiled rotten and I love her dearly!

You have boys... there is no help for you when it comes to animals.

As for our household... 1 very large dog (120ish pounds), 2 cats, a handful of fish (which are quickly dying off :) , 2 kids and one husband.

Yep we're full of animals here too.

We have a kennel and raise Portugese Water Dogs, so we're awash in dogs all the time, and usually have at least three around the house.  The problem is....they're all too smart for my own good.

I am kinda new to the cat world and Scrappy was my first. Some moron let a litter go in a field and she found our friends foot.  She was five weeks old when we got her and now two.

Two weeks ago silly me stopped at an "adopt-a-thon" by my vets...I came home with a six/eight week old kitten and her name is Snickers...formally Pixi.

Both of my furry girls are Tortie cats and this kitten is a handful!

Oh and Laurie...I have a turtle if you want one...My brother is looking for a home for him :)

I've had three Jack Russell Terriers since 1994.

My first Jack Russell Terrier was the sweetest dog. He passed away suddenly 7 years ago of an illness. He had just turned 9 years old before his death. I miss him everyday.

After my first JRT died, I rescued my second Jack Russell Terrier in Florida when he was a puppy. He will be 7 years old in September. Last August, I adopted my third Jack Russell Terrier as a puppy. He turned 1 year old back in June. They are the love of my life. They keep me entertained. Both of them are very hyper and very active especially the puppy. They love to cuddle and play with tennis balls. However, they have been known to use one of my socks as a pull toy.

I have pictures of my babies on my VP page!!!

I used to have a two guinea pigs but would break out in hives every time I held one. My kids are on multiple asthma and allergy medications and I think we're allergic to chia pets, so all we have is pet rocks.

Oh, I almost forgot...the neighbors have goats that come to the fence out back, so we visit them when we get the chance. One keeps getting its head stuck in the fence, so I have to wrangle with it every few days.

I miss having a pet of my own though.

Patty I'm so glad I'm not the only crazy one who would hunt down a possible animal on the road that was really only seen as a blur of some color.  "No I know it's an animal keep looking".  I'm glad your new kitten is living the life of luxury with your other animals.

Oh let's see.  I have a medium sized dog (never goes over 48 lbs no matter how much I feed him) who some of you know as Barkley-the-crazy-toy-destroyer.  He is 4 years old and an American Staffordshire Terrier and when he pants he smiles.  (He's also very mad at me for the moment for leaving him at home and not bringing him to Grandpa and Grandmas).  Then I have a 4 year old chubby DSH cat Jasmine, who hates the dog for beating her to the door when I come home.  I also have a kitten who is about 18 weeks old and really needs to get neutered.  Indy thinks any cup with water is his and anyone holding it is just catering to his high class needs.  My roommate has a big huge 17 (not overweight) cat who is the oldest (7 I think) and luckily all the animals get along.  Although Barkley is relieved all the foster kittens are gone since they scared the living daylights out of him.  Would love to have more, but I rent.

I have one dog,  a min pin mix,  a quaker parrot and a cockatiel,  a hedgehog, rats, a short tail oposssum, 3 tarantulas, an emeror scorpion, 2 ferrets, a colony of madagascar hissing cockroaches, a tailess whipscorpion, a marine toad, an african pyxie frog ( these guys can weigh 5 lb when full grown), a corn snake and a ball python, and a giant african millepede.   I'm getting a rescued feral cat next week,  and of course the best "pets" of all,  the 3 grandkids.  (oops,  I forgot the newt!)  I use my critters to do occasional programs at schools and parks,  mostly with inner city kids, its alot of fun,  and the kids remember which animals I brought last year and ask about them.

We have a 5yr old cockatiel named Ollie.   He thinks he is human (so nobody tell him any better) and gets a little "attitude" when he does not get his way.  He is spoiled rotten... eats most of whatever we eat, has a pretty play station on the granite countertop with lots of treats and toys, and has one huge cage to sleep in. And trust me, he only uses that cage to take naps and to sleep in......other than that he is at his play station on the counter. His cage has a wicker hammock we made in the inside corner that he sleeps in or sometimes he sleeps on his woven grass covered porch we made in the opposite corner.  His cage is laced with different lengths of perches so he can walk wherever he wants to inside the cage.  Did I tell you already that he is spoiled??

We currently don't have any pets bc we live in an apt that doesn't allow pets. But I'm kind of hoping we could get a cat or a bird or something small bc the neighbors have 2 or 3 cats and the people before them had a hamster or something like that. After growing up with animals, I miss them terribly! My brothers & I had numerous dogs, cats, fish, birds, rabbits, and even a lizard when I was growing up. Actually my childhood dog died about 5 years or so ago and I still miss her & I would so love to get another dog, just to have that feeling again. (Even though no one can replace Pepper, the black lab & chow)

This is funny. My mom babysat our beta fish for a month and loves him. So she's keeping him. She talks to him and says he responds to her. I love it. It's wonderful when older people have pets. She could have a dog where she lives but she uses a walker and it would be too hard. She doesn't want a bird. So she's happy with Mr. Lucky.

I have two Bichon-Frise doggies. Zak who is 2 and our new little boy BOO who is six months old. We bought Zak from an add in the paper, a family who had 2 intact Bichons suddenly had 7, so we got Zak when he was 12 weeks old. BOO is a rescue, from an organization that gets purebred Bichons from a breeder who gives the rescue shelter his doggies when they are done breeding. BOO's mother came to the shelter pregnant and had BOO and his 3 siblings. We had BOO for 2 days when we realized that he had parvo virus. Luckily he survived and is healthy (7 days in the hospital and $2,000 later). It was touch and go for a while, but we are quite happy with him and his health now.

Although Bichons are rumored to be "velcro" doggies (always underfoot and on your lap) we have not found that to be the case with our Boys. They are really cuddly and loving  but only when they are tired.

We have three cats right now which is about three more than I really want right now LOL.  I know that sounds terrible but I had planned to not have any more pets after our old ones died.

We got our first cat, Molly, in 1994 right after we got married.  She was 10 months old and very active.  So we got her a friend, Mia, about 6 months later.  They moved all over the US with us and had lots of adventures.

In September the cat who was living under our deck abandoned her runt and we found it and took it in.  The plan was for my husband to take her to the humane society but he couldn't resist playing with her and they bonded so we kept her.  Her name is Izzie.

But think about it - two 15 year old cats and a one month old kitten.  Buzz..... FAIL!  So on November 1st we got another kitten, Luna Lovebug, love of my life.  Of all the dozens of cats I've had in my life she's just the bestest.  Two weeks after we got her Molly had a stroke and we decided on a Saturday night that it was time to end her suffering.  That night Luna crawled into Molly's bed with her and comforted her.  Izzie climbed in there too which is weird as she's not a very snuggly cat. It's like they both knew Molly was checking out.  Sniff, sniff, so sweet.

Mia is still around but in failing health. I thought I was going to have to put her to sleep 2 weeks ago as she got really sick when my DH was out of town.  He flew home a day early and she immediately perked up.  Very strange.  But she's still old and sick so we're not sure how much longer she'll be around.

I have a white longhair cat named Aspen. Not sure of her age, but we've had her for 9 1/2 years. My husband calls her "momma kitty" because we know she had a few litters before being brought to the humane society as an adult.

I have a male orange tabby cat of large stature. His name is Boris and he is too friendly. He is 9 yrs old.

I've got a little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy named Kilo. He's 4 1/2 mo. He considers Boris his mommy and playmate. Boris is not too excited about it, but is very tolerant and when he needs to swipe the puppy, he does not use claws.

I had a Brittany dog that died recently at the age of 11. He was a really great dog and I will always miss him. I walk Kilo on the same sidewalks as Bailey. Right over Bay's footprints from when he got loose and ran through the wet cement.
