Have you ever checked it out? I was amazed the first time I did at the sheer # of animals listed.

It's very sad.  I used it to find my cat.  I have a friend that does rescues like you.  She has 8 cats and one Grayhound.  All of them are special needs; diabetics, injuries, etc.  She also helps find homes for the pets on Petfinder.

Last week the ASPCA Hospital in Manhattan relinquished the $75.00 fee to adopt a cat just to try to get them homes.  They were so full, they needed to do something.  It worked, they were able to adopt some out.

I wish more people were responsible with spaying and neutering.  When you see all those little faces on Petfinder, it truly is heartbreaking.

We have always had "rescue" pets.

We had a beautiful greyhound for ten years that had been bred and used for racing.  When she was injured and retired at 18 months her owner put her up for adoption.  Other greyhounds are not as lucky- many are killed.

At the moment we have a Yorkie that was rescued from a shelter in Florida.  She has brought more joy to our home than words can express. She quietly curled up in our hearts and we will never be the same.

I had a rescue dog but it was so wild and just terrorized our cat.  We tried for 6 months (He was about 5 months old when we got him) and worked with 2 different Animal Behavioral specialists.  We spent lots of money on this dog - got an electric fence installed and everything.  Unfortunately, we had to return him to the SPCA because he would not stop pulling the cat around by the ear.  We really did try.

When my Jack Russell, Patches, of 9 years died suddenly in 2003, I decided to get another JR. I went on Petfinder.com to search for one in my area (Georgia) and I was amazed at the number of dogs.

I finally found a JR from Florida. I was taken back about Rustie's story. He was abused and left on the streets. The animal shelter picked him up. He was going to be put asleep until the FL Jack Russell Rescue grabbed him. The day he was rescued was the same day Patches died.

I was going to be on vacation in Florida near the FL JR Rescue. I contacted them about adopting him. When I saw him, he ran to me like we had been old friends. That was it, I had to get him. I adopted him on September 27, 2003. This became his birthday because we did not know when it was. Sept 27 is also my parents wedding anniversary.

Rustie is the sweetest and loving friend and very loyal. He never leaves my side. I wish I could rescue more animals, but I do not have the room. I definitely recommend rescuing a dog, a cat, etc. There are so many of them in foster homes or shelters.

I think they also put lost pets that were found on here. I think my shelter puts there animals on here. I do hear a lot of people finding there pets on here so there's a lot of success. I wish the politicians and law makers would see how many animals are out there in shelters that need homes.

Don't feel too bad. It sounds like your old dog just needs to go to a home with no cats. You really stuck in there and tried, that's more than a lot of people do.

I have rescued some reptiles from that site. It always breaks my heart to read some of the stories.

Before we found Hanna from a breeder I had signed up and got some notices but we wanted a girl or a small breed, etc. Then we went to FL in our trailer and the rest is history.
