It's important to always have toys around that can help your cats get exercise, and keep you as the owner involved in play time as well.  We have two laser pointers in the house that were designed for pets, and this is the one created by PetSport called the Laser Chase II.  Yeah the name explains it all, as you have a little device that shines a laser beam dot on the floor, which your cats can them give chase to when they are in that playful mood.  Laser Pointers are certainly not just for the business office or the classroom anymore!

The toy is designed for cats, dogs, birds, lizards, and fish on the packaging, but I have only used this one for cats.  When I want to have some fun with the cats in the house, I pick up the laser pointer, depress the button on the side of the barrel, and shine it on the floor in front of them to get their attention.  The response is always the same, with them attacking the dot as if it was a mouse trying to get away.  It's a great way to get them exercise, because they will chase that red dot around and around until they (or you) get exhausted.  It keeps them from being lazy, and helps build up their energy reserve for other things in life.

The laser pointer comes already put together in the packaging, and has three AG13 (LR44) batteries inside that keep it running at top form.  These batteries area already good to go, so straight out of the package, you can start playing with the toy.  On one end the beam comes out, and on the other end is a little clip that you can put on keys or anything else in the house.  Make sure to always point the laser away from eyes, because over-exposure can be bad, but beyond that, the toy is extremely simple to use, and just as easy for your cats (or other animals) to enjoy.  It cost just under $5.00 at PetCo to pick up one of these, and it has been worth every penny, as it gives me time to play with my cats and help them get some daily exercise.

I totally agree with your review - I keep one in my desk drawer and as soon as they hear me open it, they all come running, best toy ever

Ha! Oh, this sounds like a fun thing to have. Maybe I ought to get one to use as a toy for the cat I am now pet-sitting while her owner works on a ship!

good for cats, dogs, birds, lizards, fish.... and toodlers! If only we had a camera at Christmas! Pretty funny watching the kids try to catch the dot! I'm planning to give one to my sister soon as her kid is walking :)

sounds like fun...now I need a younger cat. Mine is 16 and he is not interested in playing anymore. Mary Ellen
