Granted, rabbits aren't as easy to take care of as cats - they are very sociable creatures and their digestive systems are very delicate, not to mention their "messes", plus they will practically want to chew anything they see (and in my experience, they also have big appetites!). But they are worth it! Not only are they cute looking, they're very playful and loving pets. Just make sure to socialize with them a lot, give them proper exercise and if letting them roam around the house, make sure to protect furniture, cables, etc. They're also really clean; they usually go to a specific corner anyway (unless they're cage-bound all the time!). They can also be trained to use a litterbox.

Sadly, bunnies are very fragile - my first bunny died a few days after I brought him home - but this one is now in his fourth year and is very healthy. The big downside of this is not only their lives tend to be a little short, if they get sick the vet's bill can be pricey since there aren't as many vets specialized in exotic animals.

Some bunnies are tame, some are rebels (like mine) but still great to have around! Mine has made a great difference in my life, so I'm sure a rabbit can make anyone's house happier. Just remember if you want a rabbit, you must be willing to take proper care of it.

I agree, rabbits are great pets, they don't meow or bark but express their affection in so many ways. My rabbit Nube is very loving and sweet, and very playful too. An only child so far :P - but I hope in the near future I can get him a little brother or sister bun. My Nube is almost 5 now - but I have the hope he'll live longer because I've communicated with several rabbit owners who have rabbits 8, 10, even 16 years old! So let's wish our rabbits live the longest, happiest lives possible. :)

We love rabbits in home too! We just add sophe earlier this year (bunny) to keep our older bun (Pearly)happy and active. These are actually bunnies #5-6. Our others died. Gracie lived the longest almost 5 years. so far, both are getting along now. rabbits don't meow, bark or make noises like other animals. sophe is still young and active like a preteen while Pearl is more subdued but is learning to be active again thanks to Sophe. We decided to change breeds since the lops died to soon in their lives, so we went with the Rexs breed. They are gentler I think than the lops not as quick to nip. so far no one has been bit or nipped at. I do need to expand the cage because Sophe is much larger then Pearl. Sophe is a digger and all her litter mess ends up on the outside of her tray that they both share. Yes, rabbits are chewers but if you provide them plenty of chew toys, that helps when they are out for exercise. Yes, they're great for apt/renters also. They're easier to take care of than cat/dog, don't need yearly shots, don't make noises when you're gone, are very affectionate/lovable, and can be spade/neutored just like cat/dog can. I think they make the best pets.

My brother brought home 2 wild rabbits Charlie Brown and Snoopy....lol They were the most gentle rabbits I have ever saw, they were very loving toward all of us and lived 12 years after he brought them home. We have one now and her fur is like touching silk, she loves to run around the house and chases the dogs...lol very nice review and Welcome to Viewpoints! ;) Ron
