Wow!  What can I say about budgies?  They are definitely a marvelous and fascinating pet.  I have 2 budgies now (my other 3 have passed away from old age ailments in the past 4 years).  These guys may be little in size, but they are big in spirit.  Budgies make great bird companions as they are naturally curious/friendly.  But don't let them fool you!  Those little beaks can still deliver quite the whallop!  Budgies can pick up language quickly and can have a very large vocabulary.  My Boyd knew all the other birds by name and when he visited with… read full review »

My brother-in-law gave us a young parakeet and a cage last year.  He raises parakeets and cocktiels, but he doesn't train them.  We had parakeets when growing up, so I knew a little about them.  But I've learned a lot since then, and would recommend parakeets as pets.  However, I would recommend reading about them first so that you can care for them properly. — Our little "Peeper" is quite a songster, although he doesn't talk.  He does respond to us when we whistle, though.  He always climbs on our hands and likes to nibble on my hair. … read full review »

Before we got our budgies, I was not a bird lover.  Now that we have 3 of them, I'm absolutely enamored!  We're considering getting a bigger bird next year, too.  Parakeets are great "starter" birds, perfect for people who don't know much about birds.  They're very affordable pets as well--the biggest cost for you will be the cage, but that's just an initial purchase.  They don't eat much and rarely have to see a vet.  Our parakeets have made our home such a happier place to be.  They really have enriched our lives. … read full review »
