I grew up with Cocker Spanials (American, not English) and they are really great dogs. the only issue we had was the constant "gifts" of our's bringing in dead birds and mice. It is their natural instinct to do so though, so we didn't make a big deal about it. We just told the dog it was wrong, gave them a "time out" and they seemed to get it after a while. We had trouble with introducing other dogs/cats to the family as they got older because they were very territorial, but they managed to see past that and accept (not love or even like, but accept) the other animals as members of the household....

I have to admit, I am a bit bias as I have had an adorable cocker spaniel for over 15 years now. Yes, he's a trooper to say the least. review »Just Moved from OH to Katy, TX. We were worried that our dog would struggle with the new move, 2 story house, etc...NO PROBLEMS HERE! Like we've been here all along. WE, on the other hand, miss OH, but it's only been a week!
I have two cocker spaniels and both are the sweetest most loving dogs I have ever owned. aTHey are gentle, full of personalitiy, playful, and ever so smart. They are also loyal and calm (as older dogs).
