Described as the perfect combination of brains and beauty, the African Grey is a great pleasure to own. I purchased my Grey and his cage with a few toys, and some food, for about $1,800. Some of my friends think I am crazy, but he has been well worth it to me. I allways make him a plate when I eat, and if I forget he lets me know about it. He is not quite a year old, and is allready whistling like crazy and saying a few small sentences. He loves to come out of his cage and sit on my shoulder while I am doing things around the house. African Greys are probably best known for their amazing ability to mimic not only the human voice but also an impressive array of environmental sounds. I have worked in pet shops alot over the years, and have never heard bad things from anyone owning a Grey. I Love "My Boy" and think the African Grey can be a great pet for anyone. I believe you should at least be in your teens as they are a larger bird, and can bite hard.
