Hair products should never be menthol scented.

1

Luckily, I didn't buy this product. My parents had it at their house and when I went to visit once I forgot to bring my hair products so I used it. [Also my parents had this pushed on the back of a shelf because they didn't like it] At the time I was just wanting to wash my hair and didn't really think much about it. I kind of should have known a Pert product would not be very good. So I started washing my hair and the smell hit me. I swear it progressively got worse. WOW MENTHOL. [Oh I just thought of a use for the product, if you are having sinus issues it's a real quick way to get them to clear! See maybe the product isn't completely horrible? Ha] So after I quickly got out of the menthol scented shower and started doing my hair I realized just how bad of a shampoo/conditioner combo it was when my brush tried to tear half my hair out. My poor hair just looked awful that day. So dry and I kept randomly smelling menthol. Ew. Do not ever buy this product. Ever. No. Scent MENTHOL MENTHOL! Ew.

Strong smelling 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner

4

I picked up Pert Plus Menthol when it was on sale at the grocery store. The menthol piqued my interested. Pert Plus is a two in one, so it can be used as your shampoo and your conditioner. I'm not very fussy when it comes to my hair, so I prefer cheap and efficient. Pert Plus Menthol delivers in both attributes. However, I must say that the smell is quite strong. For some, strong smelling shampoo is a turn-off. Personally, I prefer something light and fresh smelling. Not overbearing or too powerful. The one nice thing about the menthol though is that it feels refreshing. This is particularly nice in the mornings when you take a shower and want to wake up. The menthol helps soothe and invigorate the scalp which does result in a slight energy boost. The amount of shampoo and conditioner you get for the price is superb and the bottle is wavy and a colorful green. If you like a strong smell, look no further. The shampoo does a nice job of cleaning my hair while the conditioning element softens my hair up. I don't think 2 in 1's are as effective as separate shampoos and conditioners, but the time you save makes up for that.

Not a fan.

My dad got this for me once and I was not a fan at all. It was when I still lived with my parents and he wanted to buy the cheapest shampoo he could find. I decided to give it a try since he had purchased it. However, I only used it a few times before I had to go buy different shampoo. It did not work well with my hair at all. I did not like the way my hair looked after I used it. It was dry and brittle with no volume at all. It also caused my long hair to be terribly tangled. It had to spend a significant amount of time brushing it after using this. I just could not find a good thing about this shampoo. I would not recommend it for use unless you are a man or have really short hair. It does not do well with long hair at all. Effectiveness I did not find it effective in any way. The only thing it did for me was make my hair dry, brittle, and tangled. I would not use this product again. Scent The scent is fine. It is not a great scent but it is not bad. It is not a scent that stays with your hair throughout the day though.

Horrible scent for lackluster hair

I don't normally use Pert Plus, but my husband is a big fan of 2-in-1 hair products. He has used the original Pert Plus for years, and he has oily hair so likes a deep cleansing shampoo. Occasionally I will use his shampoo to switch from my normal ones, or if I'm curious about a new one that he has bought. I didn't notice that this was a menthol product until I had already squeezed it out of the bottle. I am not a big fan of menthol at all. It reminds me of the way a cigarette smoker smells. I decided to use this Pert Plus menthol on my hair anyway. I was hopeful that despite the bad smell, maybe it would give my scalp a nice, deep clean. It felt fine as I was using it. It was a decent consistency and had a pretty good lather. The scent was still quite overpowering, though. Once I rinsed it out, I could still smell the menthol. I blow-dried my hair and styled it as usual. My hair was flat and dull, not at all shiny. It didn't feel too bad when I ran my hands through it, but that menthol smell lasted up until my next shower.

Pert Plus Menthol Won't Do Good Things To Your Hair

2

2 Pert Plus Menthol will not do good things for your hair. It did not do good things to mine. I was a bit surprised at how badly it worked. I think the problem with this shampoo is the menthol in it. My hair didn't like the menthol at all. It felt like it was medication on my hair and scalp. It made my hair tingle. The smell of the menthol was unpleasant for shampoo. This shampoo can be used on all hair types, but I do not recommend it. The menthol in it made my hair feel lifeless and weak. It also didn't lather very well because of the menthol. This shampoo made my hair too soft, and it took away the bounce. It did get rid of build-up in my hair, and it is safe to use everyday. I think this is a shampoo that men might like better. I wouldn't get this shampoo in your eyes because it will sting. The price of this shampoo is cheap. Unfortunately, this shampoo worked like it did not cost much. It does come in a cute container with a nice design. It will last for months. It is easy to dispense as well. I give 2 Pert Plus Menthol a "3 on a scale of 1-10" because it didn't do great things to my hair.

Ok, but not a scent I would buy again

I tried Pert Plus with Menthol because it was on sale and I had a coupon.  I liked the lather I got with this shampoo and it seems to clean my hair very well, but I'm not too impressed with the Menthol scent.  I prefer the normal herb and flower scents that I use in other brands of shampoos.  The Menthol scent isn't really overwhelming in the shower and I don't detect any sign of the scent after my hair is dried so I can live with it, but unless I got another good sale and coupon for this product I probably would not use it again.  I think perhaps the scent would be more preferred by men than women. Overall, not counting the scent, I really like the lather and clean feeling my hair has after using it.  It doesn't take more than a quarter size amount to give you the lather you need to do the job so the bottle will last a very long time.  It's a great value for the price. This is just my opinion on the Menthol scent, but someone else might enjoy the scent.  It does smell exactly like Menthol, so if this sounds like a scent you might like, I would say try it.

Great....if you want to smell like a pack of cigs.

I should have known.  Anything using the word "menthol" to describe it's scent/flavor that didn't have tobacco in any of its ingredients should have been the big clue-in.  But,  it was on sale, and I had a coupon so I found myself recently washing my hair with Pert Plus Menthol scent. HORRIBLE! At first, the smell was slightly refreshing.  Even a bit tingly.  But after a few seconds, when the scent really began to fill the shower, I was overwhelmed by the sense of day-old cigarettes.  I have not smoked in ten years and only was a social smoker at that, but I found the Pert Plus drawing me back to a time of too much beer and not enough sleep. I didn't find that the conditioner aspect of the shampoo worked very well, either.  My hair is very long, but fine and usually requires very little conditioner to keep it manageable.  After using the Pert Plus, I could barely get a brush through my hair. So, if you are looking for a shampoo/conditioner that provides you with that eau-de-hangover, or are longing for a rememberance of your college glory days, Pert Plus Menthol is right for you. Everyone else, just walk away.
