Perry Nonsterile Latex Exam Gloves —

I have worked as a Registered Nurse since 1993, so I have used a LOT of nonsterile latex exam gloves. No other brand comes close to the poor quality of Perry Nonsterile Latex Exam Gloves. It seems as if they are getting worse and worse over the years. When the Nurse Aide saw that we had a box of these gloves in the room, she said "Oh no--those aren't good for anything." I would have to agree.

These come in a box and are placed inside of patient rooms on the wall at our facility. They are ambidextrous, meaning that people can wear them on either hand. Nonsterile means that these glovesĀ are clean but cannot be used in sterile procedures.

What I like about Perry Nonsterile Latex Exam Gloves:

  • They must be cheaper since my facility continues to purchase them.

What I do not like about Perry Nonsterile Latex Exam Gloves:

  • They are VERY poor quality.
  • I had FOUR gloves in a row to rip, tear, break, or fall apart when I tried to put them on. About 50% of the gloves I pulled out did this throughout the day.
  • This can be devastating in an emergency situation. Seconds can make the difference between life and death in some instances. (No, I was not in an emergency situation, but I could have easily been in one since I work in a unit where I care for cancer patients who may need care for anything from a bone marrow transplant to ICU care)

My Viewpoint:

If you are someone who purchases nonsterile latex exam gloves for a facility, think twice before ordering Perry Nonsterile Latex Exam Gloves. Over the years, I have had to throw away so many of these gloves because they tend to break, tear, rip, and fall apart. Whatever money is saved is probably wasted in unusable gloves and the extra time it takes to find a pair of gloves that will actually protect the healthcare provider's hands. If an emergency does happen, these poor quality gloves could affect the speed with which treatment is administered, which could result in devastating results. There is no excuse for this continued poor quality.
