I recently had my first child and in the hospital they gave me colace to help get my system flowing after giving birth. I must say that these things worked like magic. Throughout my pregnancy I took a prenatal vitamin with a stool softener in it but that didn't cut it so I had to drink prune juice twice a day as well in order to stay regular. I took two of these a day for the first four days after giving birth, one in the morning and one at night, and they worked wonders. I was a bit sore and these made going to the bathroom no problem and as painless as it could be. After the fourth day I just took one before I went to bed and kept drinking the prune juice and things still were great. Since straining to go to the bathroom is bad for the baby, I would recommend colace to women who are having trouble with irregularity during pregnancy, I wish I took this with a prenatal vitamin without the softener in nit because I think it would have worked much better, at least now I know for next time!

Being anemic, I have been on Iron supplements my entire pregnancy. Mix this with my constant battle with regularity, and I was... well... miserable. I talked to my OB and he recommend the non-diuretic version of Colace. I eagerly rushed to the pharmacy to pick up a bottle, and it has been a miracle worker ever since. It does the trick without cramps, gas, or diahrea. It does not make me feel dehydrated or bloated, either. The pills themselves are rather pricey, so I suggest looking for coupons or sales and stocking up when you can. They are worth every penny, in my opinion. I have tried so many different methods of treatment in the past (prior to my pregnancy) for constipation (teas, laxatives, OTC drugs, prescriptions), and nothing has worked even a fraction as well as Colace has. My doctors have also told me that it is safe to use for the long haul, so I am excited about living a more 'regular' life thanks to Colace!

This is finitely a product that works. I have tried many others and was not even close to working as good as this. I actually take it before bed at night and the next morning it is working. If I take it during the day it takes about 3 to 4 hours to work. It also will not keep you near a rest room once it starts working. It does it thing and you are back to normal and can go on with your day or life. You are not forced to stay withing rest room distance for the whole day. They are small pills so for those that have trouble taking pills this should not be an issue. It seems to be safe to take regularly. I take it about twice a week and it has had no side effects that I have been able to determine. I came upon this because it was actually recommended to me by my doctor along with changing my diet. The only thing that would make this product better is to either lower the price or to raise the count of pills in the bottle. But because it works so well for me it is worth the cost.
