the finish is not very durable.my pets (cats) still have their nails and the surface is scratched from them running around on the floor. They also have had their hairball episodes on the floor and since I work this has also taken the finish off  in spots only after a few years on a surface that was suppose to last 20 years.

Important to note that Pergo comes in many different "brands" or sub-brands, some of which are not even made by the Pergo company. From the reviews and reports I've read, "Pergo Select" is the one you want if looking for durability. There are so many choices now, though, that there could be others equally durable that were not rated. A good first indication might be to compare warranties on the various pergo products. Pergo Select, for example, has a limited lifetime warranty for residential use, and a 10-year for commercial use.
