Long term rusting issues

When the heating elements of our Weber grill went out after 10 years, we decided to look for a new grill to replace ol' Betsy. Originally, we looked at the Weber Summit series which, with six burners, has significant grill area, can take natural gas (goodbye heavy propane tanks) and has the durable Weber lineage. However, the prices were exorbitant (north of $1,000) so we decided to look at other options.
Coincidentally enough, I was going into a Lowe's two days later and notice they had an array of Perfect Flame models. They looked good, took natural gas and were affordable. I did not see the five burner there so I began to research online.
So, the 700 square inches of cooking area and its 60,000 BTUs should handle most cooking needs easily. The addition of the 304 stainless steel hood is supposed to prevent rusting. However, several people have commented to me that, given the Chicago winters here, the Perfect Grill steel is sub-par versus the Weber grills and will rust prematurely. In short, good specs, really affordable price but watch out for rust issues if you live in the northern states.

So far our Weber Genesis has held up well after 4+ winters in Chicago. I thought you suburban guys would have a open flame fire pit... You can never have too many grills!
