These plants are so reliable that it's no wonder that they're award-winning cultivars. I've planted mine in the sunny backyard and they produce warm, cheerful yellow blooms throughout the summer. Since these are a dwarf variety, they don't get any taller than about 20 inches high.
I wouldn't recommend putting these in the back of a border or as a foundation planting because they aren't as tall as the traditional daylilies. However, they do look great massed together in a shorter border or in the front of larger flowers. Since I am a small space, short-on-time gardener, I only choose flowers that require minimal care. The Stella de Oro Dwarf Daylily fits the bill. They multiply well and are not fussy or susceptible to disease or bugs. I think they cost me a little less than $20 for a set of 3 and they have expanded in my garden over the past two years. The plants are suitable for zones 2 to 9, and I highly recommend them if you are looking for good color and ease of maintenance.
