Percy Jackson and the Olympians —

When we completed the Harry Potter series I was anxious to keep my son involved in reading positive, fun books about characters his own age (he's 11).  Someone suggested this series by Rick Riordan so I gave it a try.  I loved it!  I gave it to my son and he loved it.  We couldn't wait to get the next one from the library.

The only drawback now is that we read them so fast that we have to be patient (yeah, right) until the 4th one (of 5) comes out in May 2008.  To bide our time, we visit his website which not only has some Percy related extras, but the author makes suggestions about other series/authors to try.  He hasn't been wrong yet!

They're making a movie out of the first book! It comes out in February 2010. Can't wait.
