Percocet 10 mg oxycodone HCl & 650 mg acetaminophen: yellow oval tablet —

I have been having more pain than usual and when I was at my doctors I asked him what we could do.  I have chronic pain because I have had the ring finger on my right hand amputated.  Over the last year, my hand has been getting worse and increased in pain and I have been having other medical problems that are causing me pain.  I told my doctor that the Norco (extra strength Vicodin) was just not working and if there was anything else, he could give me.  He said that we would try Percocet and see how that went.

I have been on it less than a week and already I can tell the difference. It is helping to control my pain better and I feel more like doing things now that I am not feeling as much pain.  Before beginning Percocet, I would say that on a scale of 1 to 10 my normal pain level, while taking Norco, was about an 8.  Since I started taking Percocet my pain level has dropped to a 3-5.  It is only when I forget to take it on time that I feel the most pain.

As long as you take the Percocet on time and before the pain gets too bad you do not notice the pain but if you forget one or take it too late it does not work as well.  If you have been on a different pain medication and it does not seem to be working then I would recommend talking to your doctor and changing it for a while and see how that helps.  Sometimes you get to used to your medications and need a change.

Some minor side effects can be Nausea, vomiting, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, increased sweating, dry mouth, lightheadedness, loss of appetite, or weakness may occur.
