Pepperidge Farm - Pirouette Rolld Wafers Review

For the past few years I've made sure to buy the Pepperidge Farm Pirouette Rolled Wafers around the holidays.  They just feel like such a great holiday snack!  This year is the first time I've seen them in other flavors.  In the past, we always got the Chocolate Hazelnut flavor, but today I bought the French Vanilla flavor and I love them even more!  We also saw them in Mint Chocolate which I might try next :)  Finally, they come in Chocolate Fudge but that is also chocolate on the outside so I think I'll pass on that since I don't like that much chocolate.

These Pirouette's are a crispy wafer filled with a creme center.  The center is one of the four flavors mentioned above.  The wafer for the first three flavirs is a more plain or vanilla type so that even though I don't like a lot of Chocolate, I do love the Chocolate Hazelnut flavor!  The French Vanilla flavor is even better (this can is going to be gone before I know it!)

These work great alone but they work even better as a side dish to a bigger snack!  If I serve these alone, they are bound to disappear in minutes because they are addicting.  The creme inside is just enough to make you want another one, and another one, and another!  Since this cost about $5 a can, I don't want them to go that fast.  So instead these wafer-creme cookie like things work great alongside a bowl of ice cream, or a slice of cake!  It is a great treat to go with almost any other dessert, or even a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.  The back of the can says it makes a dessert seem more elegant and I have to agree.  When I used these last year for an ice cream dessert, I felt like it looked so fancy and it was just simple ice cream! 

But what about the health?  Well, as with any cookie, you're not going to want to eat a dozen of them at once.  The serving size of 2 wafers is 5 grams of fat, 120 calories and 18 grams of carbohydrates.  That's not bad considering a lot of cookies out there have a lot more fat and sugar!  Of course, you'll gain some more calories when you pair this with another sweet treat but it's worth it :)

The best part is the shape.  The compact rolls keep all the creamy goodness inside so your hands don't get dirty!  They are a great dessert for parties for that reason - easy to walk around with one and not make a mess.
