Pentax - Optio W30 Digital Camera Review

The Pentax Optio W30 digital camera is a great waterproof camera that is perfect for the beach, swimming, snorkeling and anywhere where there is a chance of you (and the camera) getting wet. Among its best features is it is Class 8 waterproof, meaning that it is capable of shooting to depths of 3 metres continuously for 2 hours. It is also Class 5 dustproof which is wonderful for the beach. The special coating and seals on the camera make it impervious to water and dust, both of which seem to slide off its case and lens.

The only drawback I can see about the camera is its relatively low 3x optical zoom. However, the 7.1 effective megapixels and high sensitivity of ISO3200 allow it to deliver wonderful pictures even in low light conditions. I have tested this out on the Great Barrier Reef shooting photos of exotic fish and coral and the images are outstanding.

Videos are very good too owing to its shake reduction function.

In and out of the water, inside and outside, the W30 is a very versatile camera!
