The Pentax K10D is a semi professional Digital Slr Camera , wich has a onboard antishake and antidust system. It is a camera for advanced users there are no scene modes , when you shoot jpeg only you need to tweak it unless the jpeg come out rather dull . In raw is where the camera shines. Once you have tweaked it you can enjoy good and colourfull jpegs too. I also like that it is weather resistant since it a simple rain will not force you to stop shooting. this camera is heavy a sheer 710 gram for a empty body (no lens / battery/ sd card) a standard setup boast this weight to a little over a kilo (1000gr) with standard 18-55 SMC DA kitlens and a SD or SDHC card and a battery (LI-ION) . the camea is easy to operate once you know what buttons do, fortunately pentax defines the shot mode on the back lcd of 2.5 inches and 210.000 pixels but you can zoom in to good detail . Having more camera's it has enough points that make it a fine camera 10.1 megapixels is enough for me (i am no pro) it offers me large prints if i need it . i can recommend the camera to users who are outgrown the point and shoot and simpler dslrs

I got this as a gift when it came out! I am pleased with it's performance and have used Pentax products since I was a little girl! It feels great in your hands not some delicate piece of plastic! Quality lens choices! Can't go wrong!

I think I have had about 5 or 6 digital cameras before getting the K10D, most recent being the Canon Rebel XT (with a few lenses). I really want to like the K10D more than I actually do, if that makes any sense. It is undoubtedly a well-built camera - the difference in term of feeling "substantial" is quite obvious between the Canon XT and the K10D. It's like comparing a plastic toy car to a faithful metal replica. I love the fact that it's compatible with most Pentax lenses out there, and I have a few primes that I inherited from my dad that I am using with this. My biggest issue with the camera - and it's rather significant - is that it does not do a very good job of exposure evaluation, and typically it would under-expose. Basically, I get worse pictures with my first shot than I would with the Canon XT, and I almost always have to do a double-take with adjustments. Noise supression is not that great either, I say probably on par with the XT or possibly a bit worse. But all that said, it has a ton of features not available in the price range, and if you can find one in good condition used, it is a steal.

The Petax K100D Super is a great camera with a lot of bells and whistles on it. While it isn't in the current line of Pentax cameras,it still has many features that can be found in the newer cameras. For me the main feature of this camera other than being digital, is that it supports the k-mount that have fitted on older Pentax cameras. This is why one reason I have purchased Pentax SLR over the years.The lens from my 35mm SLR fit on my new k100D. The viewfinder is a bright and clear and is a great alterative to using the screen. The camera features a program, shutter,aperture and manual modes for exposures. It also features different program modes for close up, action, scenic and other  settings found on most cameras. Batteries choices are CR-V3 lithium, orAANi-MH rechargable batteries which will give you maximum power in most cases. The camera takes an sd memory card and works well with a 2G memory.     The LCD monitor is bright and easy to read. It gives you read out info on flash mode,drive mode, AE metering, AF mode, white balance and shake reduction mode.In capture and playback modes similar info is shown on the screen so you'll what is on and at a glance see what changes need to be made before shooting.     One of the features of this camera is the shake reduction  feature. This comes in handy when no tripod is available in certain low light, slow shutter speeds shooting. A button on the front of the camera turns this feature on or off.      I have spent most of this summer putting this camera thru it's paces.I traveled To Washington, Florida, Virginia and locally through New England and I have to say the results from this camera were quite good.I purchased an 18-55 lens with the camera and use my 70- 300mm lens from my 35mm. The image quality of this product is good for most photographic hobbys. The camera has good balance of weight with the smaller zoom lens which gives the perfect balance for shooting. Adding the longer zoom to the body gives the usualtop heavy feel, but the design of the body gives you a good grip to balance the body for better stability. It is always important to try the lens and cameras  together to get a feel for them and see if the lens and/or camera will fit your needs.           In summing up the features of this camera, it is a worth while investment, especially if you own older Pentax K-mount lenses, and want to up grade to digital. I got a good price on this unit  on a clearance sale at a local camera store. K100D Super is a decent entry level unit into digital SLR's.

If you are looking for a DSLR camera that can do everything that a Nikon can do and more look no further . At 10.2 Mega Pixel this camera has it all .The built in Shake Reduction feature is a welcome plus and so is the fact that is compatible with almost all your exciting Pentax Len's. That means you don't have to go out and buy all new ones to do what you are already doing with your Pentax 35mm SLR camera .As far as battery life , I brought my camera with me on a fishing trip and did not change the battery for 2 days. I would recommend buying several 4 mega pixel SD memory card instead of one large one. This way if something goes wrong with one card you do not loose all your pictures . Being able to shoot in raw and adjust through the camera is a great feature . There are so many different function on this camera it is amazing. If you are DLS savy they just came out with a K20D that is 14.2 mega pixal  and has all the same functions and more .To me if you have a Pentax and are looking to upgrade to a DSL this is the way to go.
