I rate with only four stars because of the prices. They are certainly the most expensive of the companies I called, but I guess sometimes you get what you pay for. After a bad experience with another company, I called this truck rental service so I could move my home. I was impressed with the awesome customer service they provided to me. They were really professional and courteous. The truck was perfect, and even the smaller one held quite a bit more than I anticipated. I love the fact that they are open later than most of the other rental places as well, so you can get a truck just about any time that you need one. Penske was a really awesome company. I don't know if I will use them again due to prices, but they definitely have it going on i you want top notch service and truck rental.

I just recently rented a truck from Penske for my move from Michigan to Vegas. Had 3 breakdowns, had to go to 2 different service locations for repair that could not solve the problems, because shortly afterwards truck broke down again, and Penske sent another truck and movers to put my furniture in new truck. Although it took a total of 5 days to reach NV, Penske was top notch on everything, from the arrival of service, to putting me up in hotels. Within 2 days of me arriving to Vegas, they sent me a check by fedex for my troubles. I am happy that I chose this company and would use them again, as well as to refer them to friends and family. This company honestly goes well beyond their way to satisfy their customers. Everyone I spoke with through my journey were always friendly, polite, and saw to it that I was taken care of. I was moving from Buffalo, NY to Pittsburgh, PA and needed an affrodably priced moving truck. I had a decent amount of furniture (bedroom set with an extra dresser, dining room table and chairs, china cabinet, server, kitchen table and chairs, coffee table and end tables) along with all the boxes of my clothing, dishes, etc. After googling moving vans and asking around, Penske was my choice. They have reasonable prices, spacious trucks and were very helpful every time I spoke with them. They also did not charge any additional fees to turn the truck in to another city from where you rented it. I was surprised that many companies charged for this "service" especially since the purpose of renting their vehicles is to move. The truck we received was clean and odor free (I looked at a car from another service and it reeked of cigarette smoke). It also provided a smooth ride and better gas mileage then I was expecting for a large truck. Overall a great experience and I would use Penske again for a move. Customer Service I had wonderful experiences every time I spoke with customer service. I had gone online and wasn't sure about the size I would need. When I spoke with customer service, they walked me through the different sizes and asked about what type of furniture I had and how many boxes. They made it easy to determine what size truck I would need. They also walked me through the process of what I would need to pick it up and found the location for drop off nearest to me in the Pittsburgh area. They also worked with me asking about whether I had AAA, who my employer was, etc to see if they had any additional discount programs available to bring the price down. This was a welcome change considering most companies try to up sell you rather then work to save you money. Vehicle Selection I like that there are a variety of sizes available.

I had the displeasure of using Penske recently. My employer chose to use the vehicle rental company, and we have now agreed they will never get our service again. I used their website to check the rates, which were absolutely OUTRAGEOUS, and eventually rent the truck. It was actually really easy and convenient to use their website to do the booking and everything. The issues started when I had to deal directly with their customer service, or lack there of. The online booking was very easy, convenient, and you get a slight discount for doing it online. The prices shocked me! My employer wasn't concerned about price but there is no way I would have personally paid that amount or anywhere even close to it! I called a few days before to check and make sure the vehicle was available and that everything had been done correctly. They told me everything was fine. The day we showed up there they didn't have the size of truck we booked. I had them double check everything and they were simply like "you can wait a while and maybe someone will return one". I requested that they let us use a larger one since they were at fault for the size we rented not being there. They absolutely refused and told us we would have to wait or get a refund. We chose to get a refund, which was a hassle and we didn't even get the full amount back! Their customer service associates kept being so snappy and sarcastic! This company is VERY unprofessional. They told us our vehicle would be ready and then didn't have the proper one available. They were not willing to negotiate at all even though we were paying them way too much money for their service. They didn't even give the full amount back on their refund!

When you reserve a truck with a reservation, I thought it meant you had a truck to use. Not with Penske. Customer Service We had a problem and there was nothing they could do but say they were sorry our truck wasn't there. We weren't charged, but I would have expected a future rental discount of some degree. But this could have been just at this location, but I will not use my chances to see if there customer services improve next time. Vehicle Selection We had ordered a truck for moving some larger furniture. We called ahead of time and had a credit card down for our deposit. When we went to pick up our truck, during the recommended time frame, the teenage manager in charge told us that unfortunately they did NOT have our truck. We had our paperwork and everything but there was nothing they could do because they didn't have a truck to give us. Very ridiculous and will never go back to Penske again. Hope this was isolated to just the location in our city, but rather irritated that it happened in the first place.

We rented from Penske on two different occasions. We were in the process of moving from Indiana to Florida in the course of six months. We rented the largest truck and made two different trips to bring our belongings down south. The trucks were great, very clean and newer. I was very impressed with the service that Penske gave us. They made sure the trucks were washed and clean, went over all of the features with us, and did not push until into purchasing additional coverage or anything. The trucks never had any issues, and were able to fit all of our stuff. They handled very well on the interstate and the gas mileage wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. The rates were much lower than the competitors offered, and I believe the service was much better than the rest. They gave us a longer rental period as well which really helped when we were unloading. We did not have to worry about unloading quickly or being rushed because we had to get the truck back in time. Vehicle Selection They had all sizes of trucks depending on what you needed it for.

We have moved states a couple times now and love using Penske Trucks. The staff is polite, gives great discounts, and the trucks are in good condition (any size you need for the distance you're going). We have moved 500+ miles and every time moving with Penske has been great. The trucks are easy to load (they have a convenient ramp to use) and in case you need additional supplies (a dolly, bubble wrap, blankets) they're in the truck and can be added to your bill later. We appreciate the fact that the employees pay attention to detail when doing the walk-arounds of the truck to ensure that we do not get faulted for something that was previously on the truck (scratch or dent). We have always been treated kindly and the time we did have to wait for a considerable amount of time because of an accidental double booking of a truck they compensated us by giving us the car trailer free. We appreciate this company's commitment to making moving easier and I'm sure we will use them again in the future.

Dont know what to tell anyone else but I wont ever use them again.We broke down in Castleberry Ala.It was dagerly foggie truck would hardly go up I65n.Bruse on left arm from door jaming maybe it was from the cold but the door was jamed.I put on winshield wippers because I couldnt see.And they didnt work,Stayed on the side of the hwy with my head hung out the window to see.Got to rest area and waited untill about 500am For the macanic.He left came back at 630.Put on wipers and put back on the same fuel filter he took off.Followed him to EvergreenAla to Kings truck repair.Waited there another few hours.He got the fuel filter (NEw) I guess.I called raodside service again and again to get help.I was to tired to drive by this time I had been up more than 24 hours.I was told to call Simple Movers to come move us at our expense.Right!I would have had a moving company move me to star with but could not aford that to start with.We were supposed to be put up in a motel for the night which never happened.Me and my son have been so sick we had to go to the emergecyroom.Hes still to sick to start to school tomorrow.We had to spend extra unnessary money for lost food,had to buy eletric heaters and drinking wayer and water to flush the toilets.We got here so late that we missed getting our utilities cut on.It was a dangerious sitition for me and the children to be alone and broke down in a rest stop.And were put in more danger from me having to drive teh truck with no sleep.A 5 hour drive turned into about 24 hous or more.Nver will I ever rent from them again.

During our recent cross country move we rented a Penske truck. It was a newer truck that we were told would get 10 to 15 mpg. So we added this to our budget and loaded it up. The truck drove okay, although it's was really slow going up hills, the seats are not very comfortable and the arm rests are way up high...but it's a moving truck so deal with it. What up set my husband and I was the fuel costs. It really got between 5 and 7 mpg so it ended up costing us double what we had budgeted for. Penske had no comment other than we either drove it to fast( which was impossible, you could get the truck to do more than 55 if you wanted) or had too heavy a load ( the truck was a little more than half full with household items..about 3500lbs). The truck is rated to carry 8,000 lbs.  I can't say that the whole rental was a bad experience, the truck ran fine, it did the job with no problems BUT Penske should have been more upfront with us about the cost of fuel. A word to the wise...make sure your budget can expand and deal with unexpected costs like higher fuel costs when renting a truck for long distance moving you never know what you have gotten yourself into until your stuffs loaded up and your on the road.

Renting from Penske was easy. I did the reservation online. Then the local company called me a couple of times to confirm and even sent an email. The price was far cheaper then their competition. I had to give it an average rating due to that when we went in, their workers smelled like pot. Also, the truck that we rented, was a rough ride. Come to find out, the cv joint was going out. So the maintenance on their trucks is sub par. Would I rent from them again, yes. Very friendly people. I have heard far worse horror stories about their competitors.
