This dog food did a good job of satisfying my brood, however, I didn't notice any weight management help at all. My Pitt Bull seemed to stay about the same weight, but she has been around 80-85 lbs the entire four years of her adult life that I've had her. My German Shepard didn't seem to lose or gain any weight with this but my Doxie actually gained a lb or two after eating this for several months. All three dogs were pleased and happy with the food. I didn't notice any upset stomachs or changes in bathroom habits so it was win win for me since I've had so many issues with upset stomachs and bowel movements in my dogs. Quality of Ingredients The ingredients on this could use some tweaking. It still has a lot of ingredients that aren't really meant for dogs. Dogs are considered omnivores but there are a lot of vegetables and grains and the like in this food. It didn't seem to upset my dogs stomachs like a lot of other foods though. There is plenty of animal proteins in this food so it makes up a lot where the food is lacking. Flavor Selection There are a couple of varieties available at my local store but my dogs don't seem to be too picky.

Our little pug was severely overweight when we got her. She had been living with an older lady who fed her table scraps, and unfortunately it effected her weight greatly. We had to work very hard in helping our pug lose weight. This Pedigree Weight Maintenance dog food we got to help her in dieting. It took a long time of portion control, and exercise but our little pug is now only twenty pounds and she looks great! Whenever we have friends and family over they always comment how thin she looks now and that she looks so much happier and mobile. It is true, she looks happier because she feels better and it is all because of the Pedigree Weight Maintenance Dog food! I am so glad that we were able to find a dog food that she liked and that could assist her in losing the weight she so desperately needed to lose to make her life more enjoyable. The only downside is our pug has dental problems and doesn't have very many of her teeth. This dog food the pieces are kind of large for her, so sometimes I had to add water to soften it for her, but it doesn't bother her. Since she has lost all the weight I have since switched her to a smaller dry food that is easier for her to eat.

My New Year's resolution last year was to go on a diet and my dog was going on one also! We had both gotten very lazy and put on some weight I tried several of the more expensive brands of dog food that are labeled weight maintenance, but my dog didn't like them. My last attempt at buying a weight maintenance dog food was when I bought Pedigree Weight Maintenance Dry Dog Food. My dog absolutely loves it and comes running every time she hears me putting food in to her bowl. She usually just looks up and eats the food I put in her bowl whenever she gets hungry. She get so excited over this dog food though. She wasn't extremely over weight. She just needed to lose about 10 pounds. I started taking her for walks and feeding her this food daily, and she lost the weight. Although this dog food is a little more expensive than regular formulas of dog food, it's worth it to see my dog happy, healthy and active again.

Our dogs were on the over weight side and we had to do something to get them to lose a few pounds. Well they have been on Pedigree weight maintenance for a month now and the weight is coming off. Wahoo. I'am so happy especially for our beagle who has seizures. It was so important for him to take off weight. This is what we will continue to keep bother our dogs on. Thank you Pedigree.

Our dogs are normally, very active. When the weather is nice, they run around on the property and beach with the kids. They spend their days chasing balls, catching Frisbees, playing in the water and taunting the cats. Not a bad life! But, when the weather is colder, they get MUCH less exercise and since their eating habits remain the same, they put on a bit of weight. Not a LOT but enough that when the vet saw Jake she mentioned we might want to add some "lighter" dog foods into his diet for a couple of months. She wrote down three kinds she felt would work and **Pedigree Lean Dry Dog Food** was one of them. **OFF TO THE STORE** I was having trouble finding **Pedigree Lean Dry Dog Food** and that was when I was informed that while they still called the canned food "lean" the dry food **Pedigree Lean Dry Dog Food** is now called **Pedigree Weight Loss Formula** Not only that, it is step one. Once the dog is back to his/her ideal weight, you now move onto part two, **Pedigree Weight Maintenance** I doubted we would need to move onto part 2 as neither one of them would carry the extra weight year round. But, since the vet suggested it and I know that should they gain more weight,they could suffer joint damage and respiratory problems. So, I bought a bag and headed home. **WHAT MAKES THIS A LEAN DOG FOOD?** The idea is to get up to 10% of a heavier dogs body weight off safely in 3 months. The food consists of smaller, crunchy size pieces. It has the antioxidants which all of their dog food now seems to add. What makes this work for weight loss though is it has the, and I quote, "Highest protein, lowest carbohydrate dry dog food on the market." It was designed to help the dog burns more calories, faster. Of course that means, they still need to out and get some exercise to get the best results. Our other dog is a lot less fussy and will eat ANYTHING sat in front of her so I knew she would eat it. They suggest you slowly add the new food in but Jake was way to smart for that! He would push it to the side and eat whatever caught his fancy instead! I finally gave in and mixed it with canned (and a little turkey which he loves) and he actually ate it. Therefore, within a week I tried to just give him the Pedigree Weight Maintenance by itself. Jake is a Golden Lab and falls into their 70 to 85 pound range, which meant he should have around 5 cups per day. While our other dog, a Siberian Husky downed hers, Jake never ate more than a quarter. He would then go over to the cats outside dispenser and eat form there! I moved it up where he could not get it but he still did not eat much more. He would however get excited when he saw us getting ready for dinner, barking and wagging his tail for bites! I finally realized this wasn't going to work and tried another brand. To make a long (and sad for Jake) story shorter, the humans were forced outside to get him up and moving out in the cold. The good news is both lost the extra pounds and we got an early start on getting the gardens turned, trees trimmed etc. I guess it was a win - win situation! ***Kristy's viewpoint:***As soon as I was told that this was a part 1 of a 2 part weight loss program for dogs I began to imagine little Doggie Boot-Camps being set up all over the country! What we wouldn't do for our animals :-) I think that the Pedigree Weight Maintenance is a good product. It has a great set up, with high protein and low carbohydrates and added vitamins as well. With two large dogs, the cost would add up quickly if they were only eating this. However, if they were to stay heavy, I would have gone back to this and tried to force it for the full 12 weeks knowing it would be giving them a longer life. Once they got up and ran everyday, the weight dropped off which goes to show just how important exercise is to all of us! This product tasted great to our Husky and our friend's dog who we gave the leftovers to and ended up keeping her dog on the full 12 weeks. Therefore, I am going to assume most dogs are not as picky as Jake is and that they would like it. My family and I recently took in a six year old Lab-rot mix. He is a very loving dog, and was very over-weight! We were told by his previous owner that he would only eat a certain brand of food, so that's all he's ever had! I knew that we had to do something about his size...so I called my vet and got a couple of recommendations. Because of the price, we decided to try the Pedigree first. And boy I'm glad we did!!! I started by mixing some in with the other dog food he was eating. Over about a month's course, he was down to just the Pedigree Weight Management! Not only did he love the food, but his energy level has increase 5 fold! He's lost quite a bit of weight and can now go on 2-3 mile walk/runs!!! Pedigrree is a little more costly than other brands, but the results make it worth that extra expense. His such a great addition to our active family and I am so thrilled that I was able to find a dog food that could help turn his health around!
