My dog, Rebel, is a finicky eater since we spoiled him by mixing his dry dog food with table scraps.  Realizing that we made a huge mistake by starting him off this way, we have been slowly trying to wean him off of table scraps.  We have purchased many different brands of canned dog food but, he wouldn't eat the mixture.  I was just about to give up until I found Pedigree Little Champions Pouched Dog Food.

The Product

This Pedigree dog food comes in a 12 pouch variety pack for $5.97.  There are several variety packs to choose from but I opted for the 4 with Beef, 4 with Beef & Cheese and the 4 with Chicken.  When broken down, each 5.3 oz. pouch costs $.50, which is a bit more expensive than larget canned dog food but, worth the extra expense.

Pedigree claims that this soft pouched dog food contains real beef and real chicken.  The food is ground and has a flavorful smell when poured out of the easy open pouch.  The ingredients indicate that the food contains Vitamin E, A & D3 Supplements, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Thiamine and Mononitrat (Vitamin B1).  I was actually quite impressed to read that the ingredients also include Garlic Powder, Onion Powder and Bay Leaves with a dash of natural smoke flavor.  Sounds good enough for me to eat!

My Experience

When I brought the box of Pedigree Variety Pouches home, it happened to be time for my dog to eat.  I poured in a little of his dry dog food, a little warm water and a pouch of the beef ground dinner.  I mixed the food together, set it down and waited for the rejection.  The dog came over to his bowl and was at first a little bit unsure as to whether or not he was going to eat it.  He finally took a bite and apparently enjoyed it because he finished the entire bowl.  I was really happy because it has been so hard to break him of the people food I have been spoiling him with.

Final Thoughts

Pedigree has always been a brand name that I trusted and, once again they have proven to produce a quality product.  My dog loves it and I really enjoy the fact that it causes minimal mess when opening, smells great and that my dog loves it.  I recommend Pedigree pouches and am giving it a 5 star rating.

i Too use the pedigree pouches for my 2yr old female pug, only for her breakfast meal and only the chicken. She had allergic skin reactions w/ the other flavors. However, I think this product is great. I use the dry pedigree (small breed size) for her evening meal since she eats twice a day.
