We are a family on the go. Go here, go there, go everywhere. With all this going I am constantly trying to find nutritious snacks that all the children will like so we aren't stopping at a fast food all the time.
I had seen Pediasure Nutri Pals Snack Bars in the grocery store, but they were a little expensive ($5.29) to justify buying them and then the children hating them. A $2.00 off coupon changed my mind and I decided to purchase them for the children.
Pediasure Nutri Pals Snack Bars are:
-designed for children age 2-7.
-a product of Abbott Laboratories, the producers of Pedialyte as well as the variety of forms of Similac formula.
-available in bars and drinks.
The drinks are available in fruited flavors, vanilla and chocolate. The bars are flavored in Strawberry, Blueberry, Mixed Berry, Peanut Butter Chocolate, Strawberry Yogurt, Smores and Peanut Butter and Jelly. Nutri pals are available in the baby and toddler section of most stores.
The girls (age 2 and 1) tried the strawberry yogurt and strawberry flavored bars. They liked them so much; I decided to try a bite. The bars are of the consistency of a rice crispy treat and you can see bits of the fruit baked throughout the bar. The bars consistency is nice and crunchy. Fruit flavors were throughout the bar and it was not overwhelmingly sweet nor of the grainy flavors that other grain type bars. They did not crumble or become a messy, jammy mess like Nutrigrain Bars.
Nutri Pals provides the following nutritional value according to their information: "PediaSure NutriPals Bars meets or exceed 100% of the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) for protein and 25 vitamins and minerals for children ages 1-8 in 1000 ml serving and in children 9-13 in a 1500 ml serving and they contain 21 vitamins and minerals plus protein and fiber." They advertise that these bars are the equivalent of one serving of fruit. These bars are kosher, they have 0 grams of Trans fat, contain protein and calcium, and antioxidants.
Compared to the other fruit bars Nutri Pals provide 5 times the amount of protein, 3 times the amount of fiber and more than 2 times the amount of vitamins and minerals of other fruit bars. This data is based on a comparison of a 37 gram. Nutragrain Bar vs. a 40 gram NutriPals bar.
A comparison of Nutri Pals and Quaker Chewy Granola Bars, indicated that NutriPals contain 2 times the amount of protein, 3 times the amount of fiber and 21 times more vitamins and minerals. However, the comparisons are also based on a NutriPals bar at 40 grams and the other bars are smaller at 24 grams.
Please view additional information regarding ingredients and label information, especially regarding allergies online. Nutri Pals are available in 7 different flavors, with six in a box. Each bar is individually sealed with a waxy, plastic type package.
My Viewpoint:
These are my new best snack pal. I still consider them to be a little on the expensive side, with the cost per serving to be almost $1.00 each. Six bars in a box divided by two girls won't go far over the course of a busy week.
However, they are very filling. I very rarely need to give the girls an entire bar serving. I cut them in half. One half of a bar seems to be just the right size for their little tummies and while they are only getting one half of a full serving of fruit but that can easily be made up over the course of the day. It's the vegetables that I have a hard time with, if only Nutri Pals had a vegetable bar.
If you want to try them with a $2.00 discount coupon and receive future discount offers visit the Nutri Pals website.
