Pedi Paws Pet Nail Trimmer —

We purchased the PediPaws because we had heard a lot of positive things such  as it  being a safer alternative to clipping the claws of ones pet.  I hoped it would be make this a much easier  job for both my husband and cat.  My  male cat, Baby,  never likes having this done but he cooperates as good as can be expected.

My husband had been using old fashioned nail clippers. He's always been very careful to not cut too far down to the quick and can usually only do two paws at one time. Because it is such a hard thing for Baby,  he usually gets the two front claws done one day and the other two the next day.  Since using PediPaws, it has only helped a little bit.

PediPaws is an implement that sort of resembles an electric toothbrush and on  the end of it, there is a rotating wheel. For safety sake, the wheel has a cover which is designed so that that the paw can only be inserted in one way. You basically hold the claw up to the wheel and it files down the claw. The thing my cat seems to dislike the most is that it appears to  tickle him. I think the rotating wheel, which looks like very find sandpaper, causes some discomfort for him.  That makes it  hard to hold him and the implement at the same time because he will start wriggling and  will often start sliding out of my husbands arms.  This cycle becomes frustrating for my hubby and pet. My husband made the comment the last time he used it was that it was actually much simplier to use the nail clippers.

The biggest advantage is it easier safer than clipping because it would be easy to clip down too far and actually cut  the paw and cause pain to the pet. The biggest disadvantage is the size of the implement. Maybe if it were smaller or shaped in a more easy to hold model, it would be easier to use. Also if the filing method could be more pet friendly because as I said, my cat does not like either the noise or the friction.
