I admit that I am unlike the average woman.  I hate shopping.  Let me clarify - I dislike the hustle and bustle of crowds and the narrow aisles at my local mall.  I can barely navigate my wheelchair around some stores although I know they try to be accessible in other ways.  I have bumped into people, store displays, and errant shopping carts just trying to reach an item from a store shelf.  Unfortunately, physical shopping is not what I consider to be an enjoyable way to spend my weekends.

On the other hand, I do appreciate shopping if it is a relaxing online web browsing experience.  The internet has opened a much-needed door to me to do my shopping at major retailers all in the comfort of my lounge-around clothes.  That brings me to the review at hand - Payless Shoe Source Online.

As a die-hard bargain hunter, I've been a patron of Payless for many years.  I love the low prices and the clearance sales that are at practically give-away prices.  But the main reason I continue to shop at Payless is because they reliably carry shoes in wide widths.  In my opinion, this is an important distinction between Payless and their competitors.

Back in the day, I had no choice but to stuff my size 8s into shoes that were uncomfortably narrow.  At that time, wide widths were not commonplace, and even if you could find a pair they were usually of the matronly, sensible shoe variety.  Gratefully, Payless came along and changed that dynamic, offering shoes that are both stylish and wider than average.

I recently checked out their website and discovered that I could order shoes online and have them shipped free to a nearby store for pickup. The downside is that the delivery time is a bit extended - 14 to 17 days after shipping.  But since I didn't have any time constraints it wasn't a problem for me to wait.

The selection of wide width shoes at Payless is limited, but by using the online site I can see at a glance which styles they have in my size.  I picked out a pair of cute kitten heeled flats that were on sale for $12.99, selected my nearest store for pick up, and paid through the online checkout.  A couple of weeks later, my husband made a pit stop to pick up my shoes while we were already out running errands.  It couldn't have been easier!

Since then, I have already returned to the website for another couple of pairs (Buy One Get One Free), and they have been shipped to my local store.  If you've got the time, your best budget bet is to use the free in-store delivery and save yourself $5.90 shipping/handling per order.  Instead of using your energy fighting through a crowded store searching for your size and style, why not try shopping for shoes online?

I hate to shop too, but I'm not sure I'd buy shoes online. My feet are 9 but skinny. You can see in my Tarzan user pic. Hum. I may try shoes online though. It would be convenient.
