EXTREMELY Unprofessional company and a bunch of cheaters. They cheated me twice. They over-charged me for a couple of hundred dollars and when after a month I noticed it in my bank statement, they said it was just a normal mistake!!!

I made the mistake of being lured by their cheap cars, but their policies, fine prints, service and professionalism is the worst. Eventually I paid much more than I would have paid to Hertz or budget care rental.

Save yourself the trouble and avoid getting cheated. Pay a little more upfront to avoid hidden costs later, and get treated well.

"Payless Car Rental" Santo Domingo Office in Dominican Republic has unsafe cars.  Please do not rent from this location if you value your life. One of my tires blew on my second day of driving and we have driven less than 30 miles in two days.  Went back to the office and was provided a new car, but all the tires were worn out.  Requested the SUV with the only good tires on the lot, but was denied.  We had to select three tires from two cars and even help changed the tires to the car we end up with.  We had to select the best three tires from the worse and ended up not even taking short trips...

If you don't like headaches then stay away from Payless car rental in Montreal. They make it easy with little to no signage in an area that's confusing to drive through as it is.

This is the worst rental car agency in the city. When we finally found the office, there was a line up and only one person working there. We waited 45 mins to get served. The representative was not friendly at all and while I was waiting he was having another woman call her credit card company to get confirmation that she had personal insurance and didn't need any from them. (rediculous....her credit card company...

I recently reserved a car from Payless in Orlando and the price was right.  Much to my dismay, when the Payless shuttle bus dropped my wife and I off at the Payless rental office, there was this extremely long line of people waiting to rent cars.  The people in line were complaining about the long waits and people who just received their cars were saying that they had to wait over an hour and would never rent from Payless again.  I had no choice but to wait for my reserved car and it was 1 hour and 10 minutes before I got to the counter and was helped by an agent.  The agent handled the rental...

This company can make their rates cheep because they make up the difference with predatory fee practices.  My wife and I were renting from NYC and planing to go out of town for the Thanksgiving weekend renting from the Newark, NJ office.  The listing in Orbitz said unlimited miles in all caps, but we found out that if you are not flying into the airport, i.e. coming from the city to get out for the weekend, then it said in small writing that you have a mileage limit of about 100-150 miles a day with very large fees when going over.  Then we tried to cancel and found another large fee to cancel. ...

Rented a car in Orlando.  All of the other-mentioned cons happened (long lines, scare tactics, etc.) but it is what happened afterward which soured me to this company.

The vehicle upon checkout was 1/4 full with fuel, the mileage was incorrect and there was minor damage (scratches/dents) to the rear passenger door.  I ran back inside to grab our agent and he noted these things on my copy of the agreement and signed.

Upon return, the new and different agent blew me off when I mentioned these things and indicated we were good to go.  Get home and get a charge of $716!!

I made a weekly reservation with Payless because it was cheap compared to the other rental companies, but when i went to pick the car at the offiste location in New Jersey they first asked me where i am going and after that showed me rental agreement that said i have to pay 15$ more per day for driving to upstate NY (Albany, Buffalo)...

Turns out that this is indeed hidden in the car agreement and is even available online. If i had known this before i would have just rented with onsite company for less price.

So I paid full price, but the customer service represetnative was appaling - he didnt...

I made a reservation with Payless in October.  When I tried to make a change, I was told my confirmation number didn't exist, despite the fact that I had a confirmation number and an email from Payless thanking me for my reservation.
