Payless Car Rental —
Laurie B. United States/Florida/Tampa [Sep 05, 2009] This was the WORST car rental experience I have ever had. They made us wait for two hours even though I had a reservation. They attempted to saddle people with PT Cruisers for the economy car (how is that even close? even though I realize it fits the class--it is the worst gas mileage and worst to drive car) or you could pay to upgrade. I upgraded to a Nissan Ultima which was a mix of a standard and automatic. They did not explain this to me or have info in the car about it. They rented it to me as an automatic but it felt like a standard and I didn't know how to drive a standard. I was in FL for my mom's funeral and my experiences with this company made everything even worse. I complained to the company about the above and they promised to reimburse me $15.00 for my troubles. Instead--they never did this. They sent me a notice Sept. 4 that I had gone through a toll without paying. This was not true--I had a transponder and the toll on the Skyway requires the use of the transponder for the gate to come up. So they charged me an additional $10 for that. The notice said I could dispute the supposed ticket only until Sept. 1. I think (although I cannot prove this) that they used another toll breakers letter and just added in the picture of the car and ran a copy......there is NO WAY I did not pay a toll. Anyway, Payless has lost my business. Stay away.....the savings they PRETEND they will give you will disappear before your eyes. I will return to my former car rental company and NEVER use this scamming company again! Angry and Berieved
