Payless Car Rental — 

If you don't like headaches then stay away from Payless car rental in Montreal. They make it easy with little to no signage in an area that's confusing to drive through as it is.

This is the worst rental car agency in the city. When we finally found the office, there was a line up and only one person working there. We waited 45 mins to get served. The representative was not friendly at all and while I was waiting he was having another woman call her credit card company to get confirmation that she had personal insurance and didn't need any from them. (rediculous....her credit card company had no idea what the representative was talking about.) Then I found out that the reservation that my travel agent confirmed was not valid anymore because I was traveling to the US and now I had to pay a higher rate and there were no longer any unlimited kms. (Companys like Hertz, Avis or Budget have never done this to me in the past.) Then the insurance they sold only came in packages that were much more expensive and you couldn't pick a la carte. Then when I finally got the car it was dirty and there were coffee stains all over. I mentioned that to the representative who wouldn't look at it and said it was clean and that's how it comes. Then once I started driving I realized that the car they gave me didn't even have cruise control. When I dropped the car off I explained how disapointed I was with the service and the car, I was met with rude indifference and a bill that was twice as much as what my travel agent had estimated.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the wait time and the efficiency of your rental process. As for the KMs, there are geographical restrictions as to where a customer can and cannot travel. Customers receive unlimited mileage if they travel within the renting province at all times. Otherwise, customers receive 200KMs free per day and are charged 0.20$ per KMs afterwards. I would like to apologize on behalf of the agent who served you. We would like you to return and continue using our services. The next time you are in need of rental in Montreal and Toronto, this letter will entitle you to free upgrade with Payless. Offer valid for six months from date of letter.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns. It is through insights such as these that we are able to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
