Other reviews cover Paypal, so I will describe my experience with it. Paypal is the easiest site for sending and receiving money.
That's great for buyers and sellers actually more great for sellers. The protection policy by Paypal is very inadequate at best. Mediocre.
I've been a seller and buyer on Ebay and a new called Ioffer. Most of my transactions went smooth. However, whenever I ran into an unsavory seller the protection by Paypal has NEVER come through.
One time I ordered a game from myself. The seller never sent my anything. I filed a dispute with Paypal and they told me they were looking into the matter. After a long time they did finally notice the fraud taking place. However, all they did was suspend the seller's account , and I NEVER got a refund. This should not be.
Paypal asks both sellers and buyers for enough personal information that getting a refund should be a piece of cake. They ask everything from their credit card, bank account, to address. No excuses for not getting a refund.
After many more smooth transaction, I again ran into a dishonest seller. The item I wanted was irrelevant, but the result was the same. Paypal didn't do anything. I received no refund.
This of course aren't isolated cases at all. You do anytime of search on internet and you're likely to read more examples.
If I am not mistakes there's even been a court case against Paypal for all this garbage.
Since I was a member, I received something like this in email last year:
"A settlement has been given preliminary approval in a class-action lawsuit against eBay Inc. and PayPal, Inc. (collectively, “Defendants”). If you are a member of the Class, you must have completed a Claim Form to receive a benefit, or you could have excluded yourself from the settlement, or objected to it.
The Settlement will resolve a lawsuit against Defendants involving claims arising out of representations in the PayPal User Agreement regarding PayPal’s policies and practices for responding to refund requests from those customers who pay for transactions through PayPal using funds from funding sources other than credit cards. The Defendants deny that they did anything wrong."
Well settlement or no settlement. Paypal is hardly the safe site they make themselves out to be. Their protection is bad if not laughable.
This lack of protection for buyer gives a green light to many unsavory sellers and people out there.
I still use Paypal to make my selling and buying negotiations. However, I've started to revert back to using other methods to send money like with the post office.
I see under CONS under here that there is no mention of the lack of protection for buyers, so I really want anybody whose thinking of using Paypal to be warned of this.
